Chapter Text
Forbidden.
People tend to desire things they cannot have, whether it be money, women, men, or innocence. Though that is what makes it interesting, yes? Desiring something or someone sparks a journey of twists and turns, a surprise at each end. A feeling of thrill, risk and unknowing. Oh... it drives anyone to the edge of ecstasy.
Pure bliss clouded in one's mind. Seeking to greater heights. Alucard watched keenly as a police girl wandered blindly in the forest all alone. Her men behind her turned into unsightly creatures, ghouls. The frightened but determined look in her eyes, the rush of her blood to her heart—her scent was sweet. Intoxicating even. He licked his lips; he could already taste how lovely she was... a shame he was banned from hunting. 'Master.. you sure know how to ruin the fun..' He thought to himself.
He sensed that his master was calling him, and frowned. Sad seeing how he'll have to stop watching the little lamb run to her doom. But he had a feeling she'd make it, eventually.
He materialized outside the tent that stood in the middle of a field with a vast forest surrounding it, police officers littered at almost every corner. He stood still as he listened to the conversation that was taking place inside. "You expect me to believe your bullshit? That bloody fucking vampires are real?!" The police chief raised his voice as he so angrily gripped his desk. "Mr. -", Before the woman could continue, he interrupted. ''You have some nerve, woman! You expect me to believe you-!? and that these so-called occult creatures are killing my men!?" He stood up and glared at Integra.
"I assure you that they are very much real. Or your men wouldn't be in such conditions." The police chief bit back a smart remark and managed to calm himself. He sat back down, wanting to hear what she had to say. "Fortunately for you and your men. This is a task that will be handed over to the Hellsing Organization." Integra took out a cigarette from her pocket and held it up for the chief to light. He lit it and watched her carefully. "To dispose of such monsters, you'll need your own monster." The officers in the tent looked at each other, confused.
Alucard smiled; that was the silent order she gave him. "Kill them all, turn them to dust," is what he imagined the woman had been thinking. In the blink of an eye, he materialized in front of the chapel, only for his smile to slightly fade. The police girl was there, gun pointed at what he concluded to be the vampire controlling the ghouls.
"Hands up or I'll shoot!"
His smile returned, 'What a brave little lamb... perhaps I shall watch to see the outcome.' The little lady piqued his interest now. Surely, she has noticed the irregularity of the priest's appearance, right? She trembled, trying to cover her fear with aloofness. The priest's limbs were lanky, and his overall appearance was sending her into fight or flight mode. And as stubborn and loyal as she is to her job, she stood on her feet, not running away despite every bone and muscle urging her to get away from the danger in front of her.
Her little front of bravery was starting to waver, she was unknowingly letting out ragged breaths, and slowly started... sliding away. "You smell delightful." The priest took a deep breath in and licked his lips, as if he could feel and taste her under him at any moment. The priest took a step forward, and Seras did not hesitate to step back and aim right at his head. "You think that puny gun will do anything to me, girl?" Seras' heart sped up at his mockery. He's no superhuman to say that to her, right? He's only messing with her!
"I won't hesitate! Put-.. put your hands where I can see them!" Her voice slightly broke as she shouted at him, but her comment was met with laughter. Evil, sickening laughter. "Oh, you wound me l-" Before he could continue, Seras shot at his shoulder, due to her trembling arms, missing a shot to the head. His face twisted into something unreadable, and for a moment, Seras felt doom settle at the pit of her stomach if it already hadn't. She slowly lowered her hands and started to back away to the opening of the chapel.
If she thought she wouldn't survive, then she'll surely die if she stays any longer. She kept her eyes on him and then made a run for it. Unfortunately for Seras, she's far too slow to outrun this inhuman creature. She paused, every bone unmoving, her breath hitched in her throat; she dared not breathe. She felt the priest's calloused hand rub her jugular, and his other groping her breast.
'His hands are on me.'
The memories of that night, the night her parents died- flashed through her head, the scene of her mother's freshly dead body being raped by her killers. Is that the end to become of her? Going out in the same way her mother did? No. She snapped back into reality and tried escaping from his grip, but it only tightened. She paused once more. She felt his hand glide down her stomach, then to her belt buckle, but did that stop him? No. His hands went beneath her pants and cupped her. Her breath hitched in her throat as she felt warm tears welling up in her eyes.
"You know.. It's pretty rare to find virgins your age..." She didn't hear anything after that. All she knew was that he was rambling on about having his way with her. Her tears streamed down her pale face. She closed her eyes tightly, hoping this would all disappear, and that she'd find her way to her apartment, cuddling her cat, and not being sexually assaulted and maybe about to be raped. He fixed her neck to the side where he would have access to bite her, his nose rubbing against her pulsing vein. The disgust was boiling up in her stomach, making her want to puke.
"You'll be a good toy to play with." He lowered his head into her neck more, fangs brushing along her skin, making her shiver. She was still trying to fight him off, even if- even if.. she could not find the strength to do so. Before his tainted fangs could sink into the young woman's neck, the forest awoke with the sound of a gunshot. The ringing sensation was loud and deafening in Seras' ear. The aftermath of the shot kept echoing throughout the forest and in her ear. What happened? She slowly turned around and looked down; his body turned to ash.
Seras felt the oppressed air expel from her lungs; she collapsed to her knees as she was trying to calm herself down and regain her composure. She was panting until she returned to her rhythmic breathing. She glanced down at the pile of ash.
"Fucking rot in hell..."
She took one last breath before she rose, she took up her handgun and scanned her surroundings. She has something else to be aware of: the bullet. Where did it come from? Who... did it come from? The familiar feeling of chills trickled their way down her back. Something's wrong. Terribly wrong, a deeper feeling of unknowing settled in the pit of her gut. The air around her became heavy, and her thoughts jumbled once more. She's armed but so open and vulnerable, like whatever is watching could caress her back without making a sound.
'Go, Seras! No use sticking around and almost dying again!'
So she made a run for it, thank God she remembered the direction to the camp. She ran like never before, not looking back or stopping for anything.
Piquing the interest of something is natural, but to have something not human, or even an animal, take interest in you, is quite peculiar. To pique the interest of a vampire, much less the first vampire, is something not everyone can do, or even anyone at all. The vampire that made his own kind tremble at the mere mention of him, tendrils of fright caressing down their backs when they even spare a glance at him, the kind he'd exterminate without a care in the world. THAT vampire.
The lamb is only this close, till her hind gets caught in the wolf's fangs.
Seras rested on a rock as she tried to collect her thoughts about what had happened earlier that night. Surely that wasn't a human, obviously. And from her experience, that was a vampire. She sighed, so Vampires are real. What then? How is she supposed to cope, knowing these nightly creatures now exist and could suck her dry at any moment? She rubbed her temples; a headache was developing.
For the past thirty minutes, she had been waiting outside the chief's tent; he was busy with that aristocrat lady. So the others told her. How is she going to explain what she went through earlier? That vampires are real, and she almost died to one? and that her men turned into.. zombies?! Surely everyone would hear about this and call her crazy. Maybe even tell her to retire early.
She bit the insides of her cheek; she didn't work so hard through the academy to be disposed of so easily, like she was worth nothing. But how was she going to report to the chief? Seras' head slipped into the palms of her hands, unsure of what to think. Before Seras could drown in the sorrows of her thoughts any longer, she was called into the tent.
Standing before the chief was one thing, but having people inside listening was another. The air was uncomfortable and tense, not making her want to speak anymore. 'Just spit it out, you dimwit!'
Seras took a deep breath.
"A good...uhm. night to you, Chief Coleny..'', The man looked at Seras intensely, " Out with it, Miss Victoria, we don't have all night." Her shoulders tensed at his stern tone; she had never seen him this... intense before. "Right, Apologies." She placed a hand over her mouth and cleared her throat. "I'd..." She paused. The chief raised his eyebrow, "Well?"
She clicked her tongue in annoyance at herself. She can't afford to act professional when her mind is doing somersaults on lava. "Forgive me for my language- but zombies-ghouls- I don't KNOW are out there! All my men turned into these damn walking corpses to eat me! Hell, I even almost died due to this... this.. vampire..?" She stuttered terribly, and her words came out a bit slurred or half done, but she got her point across.
"Miss Victoria, that's enough-", "I'm sorry, I don't care if I sound crazy right now, I KNOW what I saw-"
"Miss Victoria!"
Seras stared at the Chief; she was visibly shaken up from remembering those moments, but instead of being met with crazed looks, she was met with understanding. He didn't seem upset at what she said. "Miss Victoria, that's enough. I've already got a full report on the type of situation we're in, though I thank you for your report nevertheless." Her eyes widened at the chief's revelation, they... already found out? She stared at him, bewildered, mouth agape and eyes glossed with shock. "This... was something beyond our comprehension, but worry not, we have dealt with the matter, we got news of the Vampire being killed."
"Was it a priest?" She asked; she needed answers. "Yes... We're working with specialists to see how... he became such a thing, but he was dealt with because of the forces of the Hellsing Organization." He answered, he eyed the woman, and his gaze softened. He doesn't admit it, but everyone in the department knows he holds a soft spot for Seras. He had worked with her father, and he feels responsible for her somehow.
"I reckon that... you bumped into him? I'm happy you're back in one piece, Miss Victoria." Seras didn't say anything. It's difficult to wrap her head around all of this. Vampires are real. She somehow survived one? What is going on? "Please, Seras, come see me in my office tomorrow morning, sharp at 8 am. If you can." She simply nodded and walked out, not paying attention to where she was going.
"It's a miracle the little lady survived," Integra said. The chief let out a heavy sigh and pushed his hair out of his face. "Thank God she did. I'm afraid her father would never forgive me if she died..." Integra perked up. "You knew her father?" The chief simply let out an agreed hum, "He was one of our best detectives, and my best friend. He died... due to being too engrossed in this particular case. Showed up at his house, killed him and his wife." He paused, remembering the report written on his death, "And the little bird... was shot. Death was banging on that door if we hadn't gotten there any sooner."
"It's unfortunate to say, the SIS forced us to close the case.", "Unfortunate indeed." Chief Coleny eyed the woman, looking back on how he treated her almost an hour ago, "Look, Sir Integra, I should apologise for my... harsh attitude towards you earlier, it was-" "No need, Mr. Coleny, a reaction as yours was valid. I did not take offence to it." She interrupted. The man was a bit shocked, but appreciated her professionalism.
Seras had returned to the rock she was sitting on, nothing but a lost soul. Head buried in the palms of her hands.
Their forces had reduced in numbers. The loss of friends, family and comrades weighed heavily on the girl's heart. All because monsters were real/ They were nothing but fiction, something made up by the human mind to keep people on their toes, or be fascinated. The only thing she had to worry about was theft, vandalism and petty crimes. Now she has to worry about monsters that roam the night and drain their victims dry of their life force.
She sighed heavily, "The world is so mysterious..." she mumbled into her palms.
"Are you Officer Victoria?"
Seras slowly raised her head to the voice, looking up; she met the eyes of a very tall, lanky woman. She looks like she could be a model... Her blonde hair flowed subtly in the calm wind. Ice cold blue eyes that could kill a man with a simple glare.
"Uh, yes ma'am..!" She tried putting on a front to seem okay, but obviously, this very tall woman saw through it.
"Hm.. here." The woman searched her coat's pocket and handed Seras a bottle of pills. "Aspirin." Seras glanced down at the medication bottle in her hand, a bit surprised. "You'll need it." Before Seras could say anything, the woman walked away. She watched as the woman walked away to a nearby van. The air around her was uninviting and intimidating. Needless to say, it calmed her down a little bit.
"A drink would do me well right about now..."
