bookstore oppa

Summary:

“Sooyoung-ah,” Dokja asks gently, lifting his head when Sooyoung moves to kiss his jaw without any warning. “Don’t you think we’re moving a little too… fast?”

Sooyoung hums, sucking at the skin below his jaw lazily. “No. I think we’re moving a little too slow.”

“But we haven’t even been on a proper date yet.”

Sooyoung blinks. “We went to the zoo that day.”

“With the kids,” Dokja deadpans.

Notes:

the lyrics that inspired this;

Secretly, secretly, I want to see you
Between the books, I want to follow you
I'm your paper, you're my pencil
Would you open me up just once?

- Scott and Zelda, BIBI

Chapter Text

Sooyoung pushes him against the bookshelf, inhaling sharply when he weaves a hand into her hair to guide her mouth against him more firmly. The bookstore’s empty save for the two of them because Sangah’s in the cafe nearby for her break and Dokja’s supposed to be manning the counter in her place but he’s a bit too busy making out with Sooyoung right now for that.

So it’s just them, hidden between the bookshelves near the back of the store, the white noise of the tiny ceiling fan above the counter barely drowning out the sound of the wet smack of their lips. Sooyoung sneaks a hand under Dokja’s work shirt to grope him and relishes in the tiny hitch in his breath, smirking against his lips. Dokja tugs her hair lightly in retaliation, huff transitioning into chuckles and it’s distracting enough that Sooyoung pauses, leaning back to take a better look.

Dokja’s face is red. He’s breathing a little harshly, lips slightly raised in amusement. One of his hands is cradling the side of Sooyoung’s face and the other’s resting on one of her hips casually- so casually like it’s not one of the reasons why Sooyoung’s heart is running wild right now.

God, she wants him so bad.

Dokja raises an eyebrow at her sudden change in behaviour.

“What’s wrong?”

Sooyoung shakes her head. It does little to wake her up from the daze she gets into whenever this idiot is around.

“Shut up. Kiss me.”

Dokja smiles at that- this soft, quirk of his lips that sends something crashing in Sooyoung’s brain and muddling up her thoughts till they come to a standstill while Dokja, oblivious to her inner state, combs the hair out of her face with his fingers gently. It’s so soft- reminds Sooyoung of all the times she got slightly envious whenever Dokja ruffled Gilyoung’s hair even if she’ll never admit it to anyone ever- and now that Sooyoung’s the one being petted, she understands why Gilyoung and Yoosung are always fighting over him. ’Cause honestly? Same.

“Jeju trip?”

“Sooyoung ah, my mom was literally there.”

“Then what about all these bookstore dates, are you going to not count them too?” Sooyoung asks in annoyance.

“This is my workplace.”

Sooyoung tsks. “So?”

Dokja sighs. “Look, I just want to treat you right.”

“But we’ve known each other since we were kids, so why does that matter?” Sooyoung frowns.

Dokja pauses to look at her for a moment. He chuckles. “You’re pouting.”

Sooyoung schools her expression back into her poker face. “No, I’m not. I don’t do such things.”

“Damn, I should’ve gotten a picture. You were so cute. Sooyoung-ah, come on, pout for me again?”

Sooyoung shoves against his chest while Dokja moves to trap her by wrapping his arms around her waist. The tips of her ears are red. She doesn’t know why she likes hearing Sooyoung-ah from his lips so much. It kinda melts her from inside whenever he says that with that gentle voice of his.

Dokja’s caught off guard when Sooyoung grabs the front of his shirt to pull him down and crash his lips against hers again, and his resulting groan has her feeling all sorts of satisfied as she hums against his mouth.

“Oppa… are you free tonight?” Sooyoung whispers, fingers splayed against the side of Dokja’s face as she moves to bite the shell of his ear. She smirks at his sharp inhale. Dokja was too easy sometimes.

She leans back to see his eyes blown wide, smirking as she trails a finger over his jawline. “I was thinking of having dinner together. And then maybe… desert.”

Dokja sighs, moving to rest his head against her collarbones. “You’re so unfair, you know that?”

“What? I thought you liked being called op-”

Dokja smacks a hand over her mouth, glancing around with furrowed eyebrows. “Sooyoung-”

The bell to the bookstore chimes and both of them glance at each other before promptly springing away, moving to fix the other’s hair and clothes as the sound of Sangah’s heels clacking against wood grew nearer.

“Dokja-ssi?” Sangah calls out.

“I’m over here in the back,” Dokja answers calmly. “Sooyoung needed some help finding a book.”

Sangah makes her way to the back, smiling when she sees the two facing the opposite shelves while they searched for a book and looking totally not suspicious at all.

She looks at them knowingly. “Is that what they call it these days?”

Both of them freeze at that. Sangah chuckles before walking away and Sooyoung clasps Dokja’s hand in a tight grip.

“She knows.”

Dokja shrugs. “I mean, it’s not like we were trying to hide it.”

“True.”

Sooyoung glances at him sideways. “So… dinner?”

Dokja smiles. “Pout for me once, I’ll think about it.”

“… no.”
