Cage Without The Gild

Summary:

In a world where the DEO got to Kara's pod first, Lena and Kara meet and become important to each other.

Work Text:

The first time Lena met Supergirl, she was 13 and the young heroine had debuted just two months before. Lena was home early for Christmas break from her new boarding school and had taken the opportunity to plant a prank in Lex’s office when she knew everyone would be busy at the Luthor Christmas Fundraiser.

Her mischief was interrupted by a knock on the balcony door and, when she looked up, there stood the lanky, blonde Super in her tracksuit-like costume. For a moment, Lena just stared, startled at being caught and also from a knock coming from outside on a thirty story balcony.

Supergirl just waved and gestured to be let in, an expectant look on her face.

More confused than anything now, Lena hesitantly walked over to unlock and open the door, “Um, can I help you?”

“I was gonna ask you that.” Supergirl smiled slightly, “I was just on patrol and saw lights on in a building I know should be empty. Care to explain yourself?”

“Well, my name is on the side of the building, I can be here if I want.” Lena was a little defensive, but, to be fair, she was also a little thrown off her game.

“Luthor?” Supergirl asked dumbly, blinking at her like a confused puppy, “But Lex and Lillian are at the fundraiser?”

“I’m Lena, Lex’s little sister.” Her reply was more than a little grumbled, but her tone seemed to go over Supergirl’s head, because her face brightened at the explanation.

“Oh! I didn’t know Lex had a sister. It’s nice to meet you.” Lena stared as Supergirl beamed at her.

“...Now that you know I’m not a threat, can you-”

“What are you doing here, anyway?” Lena sighed in aggravation as she was cut off and Supergirl brushed by her into the office.

“I’m playing a prank on Lex.” She gestured to the various tools and wires laid out on his desk, “In fact, you want to try it out?”

“Sure!” Supergirl seemed too enthusiastic and Lena felt a little bad for taking advantage of her goodwill.

“Just sit in the chair and you’ll see.”

Supergirl fairly bounced over, plopping down a little ungracefully in Lex’s chair. Lena didn’t even have time to grimace at her rough treatment before a sound like a balloon being blown up echoed in the office. A blue bubble formed from underneath the chair, encasing all but Supergirl’s head and her legs below the knee in an unbreakable forcefield.

“Hey!” Supergirl yelped, jerking her body and pounding her arms against the inside of the shield, “What’s this!?”

Lena started laughing, “It’s my prank. When Lex sits at his desk, he’ll get encased in this bubble shield.”

“Well, how do I get out of it?” Supergirl was starting to look a little panicked and Lena stepped forward, waving her hands in what she hoped was a calming motion.

“It’s okay, it’s okay. It’ll wear off in a few minutes. See, it’s already dissipating.” Lena pointed out a few holes beginning to appear in the bubble, growing larger by the second.

“Did you make this?” Supergirl wanted to know, now that she’d calmed enough to test the material and take note of its strength, “It’s like… Hitting it does nothing, but if I just press it starts to give.”

“It was supposed to be a kinetic shield, you know, good against fast moving objects like bullets, arrows, or thrown weapons? But it failed and I got this instead.” Lena gestured to the quickly failing forcefield.

“Perfect for a prank.” Supergirl laughed, standing up and looking like that girl from Willy Wonka that got turned into a blueberry. “It’s kinda sticky, though, ick, I hope it doesn’t stain my collar.”

Lena watched her reach up and try to touch the spot where the bubble had closed over her neck. Sure enough, there was a black collar fastened around her throat. “Why do you have that? Surely not for fashion.”

“Oh, they wanna keep track of me.” Supergirl sighed and flapped a hand at the offending accessory. “‘Cause I’m so young, they said, but I wonder sometimes…”

“Who wants to keep track of you?” Lena pressed, intrigued, and watched Supergirl freeze, eyes widening in panic.

“I shouldn’t have said.” Supergirl said, very suspiciously.

“So, you work with someone other than Superman?” Lena sensed weakness and pushed more.

“I didn’t say that.” The poor Super looked like she was starting to sweat and Lena didn’t even know Kryptonians could do that.

“Yes you did, you said they. You work for the government?”

“...Yes?”

“But you can’t say who.” Lena deduced, “Which means it must be a secret organization, right? You know, Lex theorized as much, what with more alien sightings around the country, the government must have a department for it. If they’re trying to cover up a lot of alien entities, it makes sense for them to be a secret, too. Does Superman work for them, too? He doesn’t wear a collar like you, so maybe he doesn’t or you’re just easier to control.”

Supergirl was staring at her, mouth agape, “You’re terrifying… but brilliant.”

“Thank you.” Lena preened, “You know, I’ve wondered, are you Superman’s daughter?”

“Ew, no! We’re cousins, I used to change his diapers.” Supergirl made a face, then seemed to realize what she said and looked horrified instead.

Lena just laughed, “You know, you’re not very good at keeping secrets. Why don’t you just spill everything to me now and save us some time?”

For a moment, it looked like Supergirl would do just that, opening her mouth with an indignant look on her face. Then she seemed to think better and her jaw snapped shut with a click of her teeth.

Lena laughed harder.

After a moment, Supergirl laughed, too.

The bubble had deteriorated enough that Supergirl could finally stand and start breaking the large pieces off of her with her bare hands. Lena picked one of the pieces up to try herself, but she still wasn’t able so much as bend it. Wow, she really was strong. It was strange, looking at someone that couldn’t be an adult yet and knowing that she had so much power.

What would it be like to realize you’re a God amongst mortals as a teenager?

“Well, I should get back on patrol before Superman comes to get me. Good luck with your prank, Lena, I hope we get to meet again so you can tell me how it went.” Supergirl waved, smiling cheerfully as she headed for the balcony door.

Lena watched her leave, hopping into the air like some gravity defying faerie, then taking off with a woosh.

Lena had no idea she wouldn’t see her again for eleven years.

Supergirl’s Metropolis career was short-lived, an eight month stint before she moved out to National City, California. Lena went back to boarding school after winter break was over and by the time she came home for the summer, Supergirl was already making waves across the country.

Lena kept half an eye on her over the years, their meeting giving her just the slightest bit of hero worship. She watched her grow up in front of the news cameras, turning from a lanky, awkward teen into a lovely young woman.

Then Lex turned the sun red and Lena’s life changed forever.

The next year was absolute hell; taking over as CEO, testifying against Lex, trying to bring the company up from Satan’s basement. Lena knew she couldn’t stay in Metropolis, but when she talked about moving, Jack gave her an ultimatum. She chose the company and her family’s legacy and moved to National City.

Only to promptly have her brother try to assassinate her.

She had her suspicions when the spaceship she didn’t even want to be on nearly exploded, but the real clue was when her helicopter was nearly shot down. Luckily, Supergirl and Superman were there to save the day, with the pretty blonde pulling her out of the wreck personally.

That’s when Lena got her first up close look in over a decade and she had to say, time was kind to Supergirl. Looks wise, at least, but she didn’t smile, like Lena was expecting. Instead, she just gave Lena a curious once over and asked if she was okay. When Lena nodded, she casually dropped the assassination plot on her like she was discussing the weather.

It was a little jarring, so Lena said as much, “Your bedside manner could use some work, you know?”

“What do you mean?” Supergirl seemed genuinely confused.

“I mean that you just told me someone is trying to kill me like that’s a normal thing to happen. If I had a little less constitution, I’d probably scream and faint.” Lena scoffed.

“There’s EMT’s here in that case.” Supergirl said haltingly, “I’m sorry, I feel like I’ve offended you?”

“A little compassion would be nice, you’re acting like you’re not even…” Lena paused, then closed her eyes and continued with a sigh, “human. But I guess you aren’t huh?”

“Superman was always better with people. Plus I don’t normally deal with giving people bad news.” Supergirl shrugged nonchalantly.

“I’ve seen you give wonderful interviews on tv.”

“Oh, I’m normally coached through those. My boss says I’m pretty hopeless with speaking. The longer interviews aren’t even me.” Supergirl sucked on her teeth, “Shoot, I shouldn’t have told you that.”

“Well, at least that hasn’t changed.” Lena laughed lightly, finally seeing a bit of that awkward teenager in the grown heroine.

“What can I say? You’ve always been easy to talk to.” Supergirl gave her a sheepish smile and Lena realized that was the first one to crack her face since she’d been pulled from the helicopter. “Can I take you somewhere?”

“No thanks, I think I’m done with flying today.”

“Yeah, that’s fair.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lena wasn’t expecting to see Supergirl again that day, but there was a knock on her balcony window later in the night. She cautiously got up and went to let her in, “You know, that’s not an entrance.”
“Is to me.” Supergirl shrugged, “My boss is thinking that the renaming ceremony is going to be a target tomorrow. Wants you to call it off.”
Lena squinted at her for a long moment, “You’re so different now.”
“I grew up.” Supergirl said, voice barely a whisper. Her words lingered in the air like an ominous omen, before she spoke again, “The ceremony?”
“I can’t cancel it. If I can’t even do this, my company has no chance. I’m dead either way.” Lena looked imploringly at Supergirl, “You can protect the crowd, right? Maybe call in a few agents for extra security?”
Supergirl let out a long sigh, “Yeah, Lena, I can do that for you.”
It turned out to be a target after all, but Supergirl found and disposed of all the bombs before they could interrupt the ceremony, including the ones in the L-Corp building, meant to collapse the whole structure. Lex’s hitman, John Corben, took a potshot at her, but got caught instead by Superman, while Supergirl whisked her away to the safety of her office.
After that ordeal was over, Lena thought that might be the last she saw of the hero.
Except it wasn’t.
Supergirl showed up a few weeks later wanting to know about an alien fight club, which Lena happily told her about. Then Lena needed to get in contact with her about protecting her gala from a gang with alien weapons. After that, Supergirl told Lena that Kryptonians could hear at a certain tone that no one else on earth could, hinting rather blatantly at a way to contact her without the need to stand on the roof of L-Corp and call for Supergirl at the top of her voice.
Then Supergirl landed on her balcony a few days later with a strange, shy look on her face. Lena invited her in, of course, and considered just getting a biometric lock for Supergirl’s increasing visits.
“I, uh… You’re good with people, right?” The question surprised Lena, but she nodded and gestured for more elaboration, “So, I’m having some trouble with a coworker and I need some advice.”
“Advice?” Lena asked incredulously and watched Supergirl’s cheeks flush in embarrassment.
“I don’t exactly have anyone else I can go to.”
“So you came to me?”
“You’re, like, the closest thing I have to a friend. I work with everyone else I know.”
Lena jumped a little at this revelation, “You don’t have any friends outside of the secret government agency that you work for? Do you not have a secret identity? ‘Cause Lex was pretty sure Superman did.”
“Superman does. I don’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because I’m not allowed to. Can you give me advice or what?” Supergirl put her hands on her hips and frowned at Lena, but it really just looked more like an annoyed pout.
“I’m going to come back to that later, but yes. Hit me.”
“So, there’s this guy I work with-”
“Wait, is this boy troubles?”
Supergirl threw up her hands, “In that he is a boy and he is trouble, can I finish? Actually, you know what? Let’s get one thing straight, I’m not going to date someone I work with, both because that’s a terrible idea I’ve seen collapse more times than has worked and, also, I’m not allowed to date.”
“You just keep-” Lena rolled her eyes, “Fine, but I want more information on this leash you seem to have around your neck in turn. Deal?”
“Deal. So, I hate him, he’s a jerk, his people are sucky slavers, but they’re all dead and he works for us now, and my boss wants me to train him, but, again, I hate him. How… Do I make that work without strangling him?”
Lena gave the question some thought, then sighed, “You need to compartmentalize.”
“How do I do that?”
“You take all your feelings and shove them way down deep and put them into a box and shut the lid tight and deal with it all at a later date. Just turn your emotions off and don’t let them bother you until you’re alone.”
Supergirl looked at her curiously, “Is that how you…?”
“I also drink a lot.”
That got a laugh, “Well, can’t do that, so turning off my feelings for a few hours? Yeah, I can try to.”
Lena nodded once, then stood and gestured towards the couch, “Now, tell me more about the deal you have with this agency of yours. Sounds… Rights violating.”
“You mean with the Alien Amnesty Act?” Supergirl followed her over and they both sat down, “Can only get rights if you register. Colonel Haley says I can’t register because I don’t have an address.”
“That’s not true and, if it is, you can just get a PO Box.”
“Well, that costs money, right? I don’t have any money.”
Lena was aghast, “What do you mean, they don’t pay you?”
“Not in money. I sleep there, they feed me, clothe me, provide me with everything I need. Like a soldier.”
“Even soldiers get paid. They get leave and can go off base. Do you not get any of that? What hours do you work?”
“I’m on call 24/7. My comm has a tracker in it, so I took it off to come talk to you.” Supergirl gave her the most heartbreakingly sad smile Lena had ever seen, “I’m a weapon, Lena. They point me in a direction and pull the trigger.”
“You’re a prisoner.” Lena realized breathlessly.
“It’s not all bad. I mean, I’m tired all the time, but a lot of the older agents watched me grow up. They bring me outside food and play games with me, and get me cupcakes on my Earth Birthday.”
“But would they kill you if ordered?”
Another sad smile said it all, “Only because they know I’m dangerous. I mean, the Red Kryptonite event from last year? That could have been really bad. However... It’s not the agents that will kill me, because I’m already dying here.”
“Dying?” Lena’s brows furrowed in concern, looking over Supergirl for any signs of illness, but she was perfect.
“I’ve been dying on the inside for a long time, probably since I landed here, I just never noticed. Not until it was too late.” Her blue eyes were dull when she looked at Lena, mask fully down.
She did look tired, the kind of existential exhaustion Lena imagined from the words of authors and poets who killed themselves. How does a nearly indestructible being commit suicide? Sounded like a fate worse than death.
Lena reached out to lay a hand on Supergirl’s arm, trying to comfort her, but the other woman nearly jumped out of her skin. Lena jerked back and they both apologized at the same time.
“No, no, I’ve just…” Supergirl was looking at her with interest, “not been touched like that in a long time. Outside of PR meet and greets and rescues, no one ever really just… touches me.”
Lena cautiously reached out again, fingers skimming over Supergirl’s forearm until her palm could land fully against her there. Supergirl swallowed nervously, so loud even Lena could hear it, then reached out and oh so gently covered Lena’s hand with her own. It felt good to Lena, too, and she tried to remember the last time anyone casually touched her like this.
They both held that pose for a long moment, until Lena’s back started to ache with the way she was leaning over. Reluctantly, she let go and straightened up, hearing Supergirl let out a shaky breath.
“You know, I’m here late most nights.” Lena was offering before she could think twice, “If you wanted to join me.”
Supergirl smiled as she stood, a real one that reached her eyes, and nodded eagerly, “I’ll take you up on that.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Supergirl became a regular in Lena’s office after that, as eager for conversation and touch as Lena secretly was. When she mentioned off-handedly that she loved the food on Earth, Lena made a point of ordering dinner for them when Supergirl dropped by.

Their relationship progressed through physical contact as well. At first, just touches on the arm, Supergirl sitting a respectable distance away and looking at Lena like a dog might beg for scraps. The first time Lena initiated a hug, she thought the poor girl might start to cry, trembling in her arms with her hands so delicate and gentle around her waist.

The whole thing with Cadmus and her mother nearly brought an end to their budding friendship. But when Lena helped bring her down during the Medusa virus attempt, Supergirl seemed to grow bolder with her affections.

The first time they met back up after it was all said and done, Supergirl sat down right next to Lena on the couch, their sides and legs pressed together. Lena was surprised, looking up into pretty blue eyes for some kind of answer, but only finding a question reflected there. Was this okay?

Lena smiled and Supergirl smiled and they both began to haltingly talk about their days.

Things became much less innocent on a night when Lena’d had a particularly long day. She’d slept a little funny the night before, so her neck was already hurting, but she’d also uncovered proof of embezzlement from one of her board members and needed to call in the cops to have him removed from her building in handcuffs. That became a media shit show and there were so many calls…

Lena was half tempted to clear her schedule and just go back to the hotel she was staying in.

When Supergirl found her, still buried up to her ears in paperwork, Lena was rubbing her sore neck with one hand and flipping through documents with the other, her posture totally shot and uncharacteristically slumped.

“I saw the news.” Supergirl said hesitantly as she entered. Lena had ended up putting a biometric lock on the balcony for her to come and go as she pleased.

Lena just groaned, “I’m so stressed I think my knots have knots.”

She didn’t notice Supergirl’s contemplative look, but she did hear her offer loud and clear, “I could rub your shoulders, if you’d like?”

To her credit, Lena didn’t immediately agree. After all, a tireless alien offering to give her a massage certainly sounded like the perfect end to the day, but she didn’t want to take advantage of her friend. And they were friends, that word had been used several times.

Then Lena straightened a bit and a twinge in her neck had her nodding, “Yes, please.”

Supergirl reached up eagerly as Lena turned to give her better access to her back and the first touch of those warm, strong hands had her moaning and sinking back against her. Then, firm thumbs drew up her neck and Lena had to struggle not to melt. She definitely wanted more of this exquisite pressure on her sore muscles, but the feeling of her blouse under the powerful touch only succeeded in irritating her skin.

There was a pause as both of them seemed to come to the same conclusion, but neither were bold enough to voice it. Lena heard Supergirl’s breath stir in her chest, like she was going to speak, then she paused, let out the breath, then tried again.

It still took another try before she managed, in a very squeaky voice, to ask, “Could you take off your shirt?”

“Why don’t we move to the couch for this?” Lena felt herself flush, even as she rose and moved swiftly, sitting sideways on said furniture and waiting until Supergirl followed to take a place behind her.

She took a deep breath for courage, then slipped her blouse off in one smooth motion. She heard Supergirl take in air sharply and looked over her shoulder to see wide blue eyes drawing greedily over the expanse of her back.

When she seemed stuck, Lena prompted gently, “Is that better?”

“Um, yeah, yes. That’s… That’s perfect.” Supergirl breathed out the last word in a sigh and then her warm hands were back on Lena’s skin.

Despite the sexual tension, the massage was incredible. Without her shirt in the way, Supergirl could really work into all the sensitive places, never using too much pressure, never pushing on the wrong place. She was either practiced, knew anatomy, or was using her X-ray vision to find the tense muscles.

Lena began to slump forward as she finally relaxed, trusting herself to Supergirl’s clearly capable hands. She didn’t even notice, at first, when one of those hands began to creep up and over her shoulder, until a foreign palm was pressed flat against her sternum, right where her cleavage began.

Her eyes fluttered open and she took stock of her position; on the couch, one leg tucked underneath her to allow her to sit sideways. Somehow, though, she’d started to lean forward and Supergirl’s hand on her upper chest was keeping her in place to allow the other to wander further down her back. She felt knuckles digging into the muscles beside her spine and groaned, putting more of her weight into the stabilizing press in front of her.

Lower and lower Supergirl worked, even daring to trace the band of her bra with curious fingers. The question was clear, so Lena reached back and opened the clasp, biting her lip to stifle a less than friendly noise when she felt Supergirl stroke soothingly along the red marks left behind on her skin there.

“Lean forward for me.” Supergirl finally said, voice a little breathless.

“It’s a little awkward with just this.” Lena wasn’t much better at this point. They really had gone from zero to a hundred tonight and she was ready to go all the way to hell if this wouldn’t stop.

“Here, let me.” The hand on her chest shifted away and Lena nearly fell forward before Supergirl returned from a different angle. Slipping around her from under her ribs, Supergirl could now support Lena with her whole arm. Which was sturdier, but two things were glaringly obvious.

First, her wrist was now settled snugly between Lena’s breasts, which were barely covered by her loosened bra at this point. And second, Supergirl had to practically drape herself over Lena’s back. She could feel loose, blonde hair tickling down all the bare skin on display.

“Better?” Lena tried to seem like she wasn’t affected, but if Supergirl couldn’t hear her heartbeat before, she could damn well feel it pounding by now.

“You tell me.” The way that husky whisper sent a shiver down her spine was not at all helped by the thumb that traced down the muscles of her lower back. Lena groaned, because that really did feel great, and also because she could feel Supergirl’s hot breath panting quickly against the back of her shoulder.

“Right there.” Lena murmured, not even realizing how that might sound until it was already out of her mouth. She swore Supergirl whimpered and she reached back to clutch at a strong thigh, squeezing as hard as she wanted.

There was a shift behind her and Lena felt Supergirl’s nose just barely brush her skin, her breath audibly quick and shaky. Feeling bold, Lena rolled her shoulder back until she felt the softest touch of lips there and Supergirl let out a shuddering sigh.

“Like this?” She asked, drawing her mouth along Lena’s back and up to her neck. She licked her lips and Lena moaned at the lightest touch of her hot tongue there.

“Please.” Lena moaned out shamelessly. She was so wet now there was no way she was leaving this office without some relief tonight.

“Can I touch you?” Supergirl fairly begged for consent and Lena reached up to direct the hand on her front down to one of her breasts. It squeezed, a little harder than she liked, so Lena pawed at it until she could show her how she liked to be touched.

“Gently. There, use your thumb, mm, just like that.”

“You’re so sexy.” Supergirl whined into the back of Lena’s neck, seeming to be even more wrecked while doing the touching. “I need to feel you against me.”

There was a zip behind her as Supergirl opened up her top and the hand on her tit was gone. Lena took the opportunity to drop her bra to the floor and then there was a hot, bare front pressed tight to her back and two hands coming up to play with her chest.

It occurred to Lena that they probably should talk about this, but then her nipples were being pinched and tugged just the way she liked and she was arching into the touch with a ragged gasp, “Supergirl!”

“Kara.” Lips were dragging wet and messy across her jaw and ear, “My name is Kara.”

Lena turned her head and drew her mouth sloppily against Supergirl’s, Kara’s, cheek, smearing her lipstick there more than anything. “Kara, will you make me come for you?”

“Yes.” Kara hissed, body shuddering in arousal. Lena felt her hips rock and moaned when she realized Kara was grinding against her ass.

Reaching up, Lena took one of the hands on her chest and dragged it down, loosening her slacks so that she could direct two fingers into the heat between her legs. “Like this.”

“You’re so wet.” Kara gasped, circling her fingers just the way Lena showed her, “You feel better than I imagined.”

“You imagined this?” That surprised Lena; she’d noticed the occasional lingering look, but it had never seemed more than curiosity.

“I’ve never… with another person before, but recently, you’re all I can think of when I do this to myself.” Kara admitted, pushing her fingers farther until she could prod at Lena’s throbbing entrance, “Also, I’ve been so much more horny since I met you. You’re so beautiful and smart and amazing. I can’t get enough of you.”

Whatever Lena was going to say was cut off when Kara plunged two fingers inside her, palm grinding into her clit as she thrust. The pace was frenzied, but by the way Kara was rocking against her from behind and the whimpers and moans in her ear, she wasn’t the only one getting close to orgasm.

“I touch myself like this.” Lena moaned at the breathless revelation, “I hope you like it like this, too.”

“I do, Kara, so much. It feels so good. Gonna make me come, I wanna come for you, please.” Lena babbled, well and truly losing herself to this encounter.

Her words were well received, as Kara bucked and shuddered against her, a strangled cry and pause in her movement indicating her climax. Lena whined and tried to roll her hips into the pleasure again, but she was locked in a vice-like grip. She was still squirming helplessly when Kara started thrusting into her with renewed vigor a moment later, seeming possessed by the singular goal of making Lena utterly ruin her underwear.

“I wanna see you come, too, pretty girl.” Kara mouthed at the shell of her ear, “Can you do that for me?”

Already most of the way there, all Lena could do was agree, “Yes, yes, yes, yes! Kara, yes!”

Her orgasm was intense and drawn out into a second by the inexperienced fingers still rocketing in and out of her at full (human) speed. Lena had to tap out pretty hard when oversensitivity started to make the touch feel painful and whimpered when Kara pulled out immediately.

“You okay?” Kara murmured, a little concerned.

Lena reached up to pat her face, still panting harshly, “Just hold me, I’m okay.”

Kara leaned back, pulling Lena into a secure hold against her chest and in her lap and Lena could fully see the expression on her face. It was some mix of hopeful and confused, like she had no idea what was going on, but thought she might have done well anyhow.

“Did you-? I mean, I felt you… Was that-?” She looked so earnest that Lena felt endeared.

“Yes, darling, I came. Twice even.” Lena informed, to Kara’s obvious delight.

“Twice?!” A pleased smile settled over Kara’s face, “Now I know what it looks like.”

Lena watched Kara raise her sticky fingers and look at them curiously, then stick them in her mouth and suck. Lena flushed when she made her enjoyment known with a happy little moan, not much different from eating a favored food. “You like that?”

“Mhmm, you taste really good. I think I’m always a little saltier.” Kara was so nonchalant with that information that it took Lena aback.

“You’ve tasted yourself before?”

Kara faltered a bit, “Is- Is that weird?”

Lena had to think about it for a moment, “You know, I don’t think so, but I’ve never asked anyone else. I suppose we all get curious and I like the taste of other women. Men are more hit or miss.”

“Hmm.” Kara hummed thoughtfully, then slipped her hand back into Lena’s underwear and dipped two fingers into her lingering wetness, “Here, try.”

When she held up her glistening fingers, Lena only hesitated a split second before taking them into her mouth and sucking gently. She heard Kara’s breath catch behind her and huffed in amusement. The Super clearly hadn’t thought of the effect it might have on her if Lena took her up on her offer.

When Lena finally released her fingers, Kara was panting heavily in her ear. “You know, sweetheart, I do like that, but I’m curious how you taste now.” She turned to give the wide eyed Super a smoldering look, “Can I take it from the source?”

“Um, y-yeah, whatever you want.” Kara nodded eagerly, letting Lena turn and push her onto her back.

They quickly stripped her of the rest of her clothes and Lena took a moment to admire the beauty beneath her. “You’re gorgeous, you know that?”

Kara flushed from the tips of her ears down to her chest, “Thank you. I think you’re really beautiful, too.”

What better reward for the compliment could Lena offer, but to lean down and start kissing up those strong thighs? Kara trembled from the first press of lips, nervous energy clear in the way she bit her lip as she looked down at her.

“Relax, darling, this is supposed to feel good.” Lena tried to soothe, rubbing her cheek against Kara’s leg gently.

“I’m just a little nervous. I’ve never… I’ve read about this, but I don’t want to hurt you or what if I don’t, what if it’s not good for you?”

“We don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable with.” Lena reassured, turning her head to press a sweet kiss to the side of Kara’s knee, “This should be mutually fun for us both. I promise you, I like going down on a woman, so this will be good for me. You smell amazing, I can only imagine you’ll taste better, so don’t worry about that. As for hurting me, what exactly is your fear?”

“If I… Lose control, what if I crush you? Or if I-” Kara bucked her hips up, “And you get hurt like that?”

“Why don’t you hold yourself open for me?” Lena suggested, “You can put your hands on your knees, that way, even if it gets overwhelming, you can grip yourself and not break anything.”

“What if I forget? In the middle of it all?”

“You won’t.” Lena cut off the protest she saw coming, voice dropping an octave lower, “You won’t forget, because you want to be a good girl for me, right?”

Kara jolted at the words like she’d been stung, but the way her pupils grew told Lena her words and tone had the intended effect. The Super was looking at her with renewed interest, her nerves taking a back seat.

Lena pushed this new dynamic immediately, “You want to be my good girl, don’t you? Answer me.”

“Yes.” Kara all but stumbled over herself to obey.

“Yes, what?”

“I want to- to be your good girl.”

“Then you won’t hurt me, will you, baby?” Lena nuzzled the inside of Kara’s thigh, pressing light kisses there until she heard a hitch in her breath.

“No.” Kara whined, breathing coming quickly.

“Good.” Lena glanced down and saw exactly how much Kara was enjoying this by the gush of wetness beginning to drip out of her, “Put your hands on your knees for me and spread your legs open.”

Kara obeyed without question, wide eyes still on Lena.

“You tell me if you want to stop for any reason, okay? Until then, just lay back and let me make you feel good.” Lena waited for acknowledgement in the form of a nod, then began to kiss and nip along the tempting, trembling muscles of Kara’s thighs.

By the time she got to Kara’s glistening, wet pussy, the Super was a moaning, whimpering mess. Her head had dropped back and Lena could see the way her fingers flexed on her own knees, but she was confident there was minimal danger. So she dove in with gusto, moaning when she finally got a taste. It was saltier than her own, but it was still delicious, and Lena intended to take her time.

Kara was loud whenever Lena licked or sucked on a particularly sensitive area, so it was easy enough to catalogue all the things that made her feel the best. Lena was in no hurry to end this, however, so she teased and tasted and made Kara arch and writhe.

There was a time when Lena would have happily made eating pussy her full time job, back when she was discovering herself in boarding school, but, unfortunately, she just didn’t have the same jaw stamina she did when she was sixteen. When that ache came on, she knew she’d have to finish her Super off. She moved up and focused on her throbbing, eager clit, sucking and licking and moaning against it, Kara’s voice rising until it was echoing in the large office.

When she came, Kara’s hips bucked, but her legs stayed open, and Lena was easily able to ride her out, pressing the flat of her tongue to her most sensitive part to prolong the pleasure. When Kara dropped bonelessly back to the couch, panting and whining, Lena took a moment to lap up the mess between her legs, until a hand on the top of her head begged her to stop.

“Nnno more, sensitive.” Kara complained, voice slurred with exhausted pleasure.

Lena chuckled and crawled up Kara’s body, leaving little kisses as she went, feeling strong arms wrap limply around her shoulders. She pressed into Kara’s side and cupped her cheek, turning her head to kiss her, sharing the taste of her on Lena’s lips. Kara made a noise of surprised delight, kissing her back eagerly, until Lena pulled back, grinning.

“You were such a good girl for me.” She murmured, watching red flush up Kara’s chest and into her face. She laughed lightly when Kara buried her face shyly, “Hey now, don’t be embarrassed. I liked that a lot.”

“So did I.” Kara said, muffled under Lena’s chin. “I don’t want this to be the only time we… do this.”

“Have sex?” Lena couldn’t help teasing, but she was surprised when Kara looked up at her so cutely, biting her lip a moment before saying.

“Make love?”

Well, now how could Lena say no to that sweet face? She smiled gently and leaned down to kiss Kara lightly, “Yeah, make love. I want to do that again, too.”

“I really like you, Lena.” Kara confessed, “I have since we first met and you trapped me in a bubble.”

“Really?” Now that was unexpected.

“Mhmm. I’ve thought about you a lot over the years. You were so smart and cheeky, I really wished I could have stayed in Metropolis and become friends with you.”

“Why couldn’t you? I have to admit, I wanted the same.”

“My cousin started to fight with the organization that took me in. So, they…” Kara hesitated, but Lena could fill in the blanks.

“Packed you up and got you as far from a potential savior as they could.”

“Yeah.” It came out like a sigh and Lena felt her heart ache. Strongest woman in the world and Kara was a prisoner of the US government.

She pushed up to kiss Kara as gently as she could and felt her melt. When she pulled back, Kara was looking at her with half lidded eyes. Were she a worse person, Lena knew she could take advantage of having a Super at her beck and call. But…

“I really like you a lot, too, Kara.” She whispered, feeling shy at her own confession.

“Can we, can we date?”

“I would like that.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kara didn’t have a cell phone, so Lena got one for her. Specially encrypted, the text messages would encode themselves and could only be read if you had the password. Lena even got Kara new boots with a false heel so that she could hide the phone away on her person without worrying too much about it getting damaged.
Paranoid? Maybe, but Lena didn’t trust anyone, much less the government.
They planned dates as best they could with the limitations they had. They could really only meet at the office or Lena’s suite at the Baldwin, which was fine, because a little extra money and time could have any cuisine in the city delivered to Lena’s door. Kara loved food, which she’d already known, but she was happier curling up on the couch and watching movies with cheap pizza than even the most expensive food in National City.
When it came to sex, both of them were damn near insatiable.
Lena had never been with a less experienced partner like this and she found herself delighted to introduce new ways to please each other to Kara. Kara was an eager student, herself, though there were a few favored positions that made themselves known as their relationship progressed.
Kara loved to hold Lena from behind, during sex especially, but also just anytime they were in the vicinity of each other. There was just something about curling herself over Lena’s back that really did it for the Super. Lena suspected it was a protective instinct, but since she liked it, too, she didn’t feel the need to question it.
They managed to keep up their charade for six months before, one day, Kara didn’t show up for one of their dates.
This was suspicious enough that Lena immediately knew something was up. If it were a Supergirl emergency, Kara always texted, but there was nothing on the news. Kara was never late, either, because she looked forward to these dates as much as Lena did. That left only one option; she’d been found out.
In an effort not to absolutely freak out, Lena decided to give it 24 hours before calling Clark Kent in Metropolis and giving away that she knew who Superman was.
The next morning, Supergirl landed on Lena’s balcony at L-Corp and Lena jumped out of her chair to greet her, feeling a flush of relief.
“Where have you been? I was so-” Lena paused, eyes widening in surprise as Supergirl took a step forward and gave the balcony door a little yank, finding it locked.
“Can you let me in, Lena?” There was no smile on her face, no fondness in her eyes.
“Something wrong with the lock?” Lena asked, gesturing to the biometric scanner. It was keyed to Kara’s DNA, the littlest prick of a Kryptonite needle drawing a drop of blood for the scan. They’d discussed it and Kara had been the one to suggest that measure because there was a shapeshifter at the DEO who could easily mimic her fingerprints. “You’re the Martian. Where is Supergirl?”
“You know her that well?” Supergirl glowed red and reverted to the tall, green man Kara had described, “You must be the one she’s been sneaking out to see.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Lena denied, trying to calm her racing thoughts. She didn’t want to give the game away so easily.
“I can read your mind, you know. You’re worried about her.” That seemed to soften him a little, at least, which made it so she didn’t scream when he phased through the door in two, long strides.
“Should I be?” Lena shuffled back until she hit her desk.
“They found her trying to sneak out last night.” J’onn informed her, “They have her under lock and key in the Kryptonian cells.”
Lena breathed in sharply. Kara had told her what awaited her for disobedience; Kryptonite poisoning, stuck in a cell with exposure to the green rock cranked up to just below a level that would kill her. She’d been a guest there several times over the years until the rebellion was worked out of her.
“Can you get her out?” Kara had said that J’onn was a good man, a good ally. If he was willing to help, then Lena would hide her girlfriend somewhere safe.
“Do you have a place for her?” He asked and Lena tried not to think of it.
“I can get one ready. I’ll need time, but I can do it. Are you coming with us?” That seemed to give him pause.
“Would you be willing? To hide us both?” J’onn asked cautiously.
“She speaks highly of you. Says you’ve been like a father to her and a victim as well. If there’s anyone else you think you should bring? Mon-El?”
“Yes, he needs to get out as well.”
“Then I have a plan, but you’ll need to execute it so I can keep my hands clean.”
J’onn seemed to contemplate a long moment on her and she tried her best to seem confident. Finally, he nodded, “For Kara.”
“For Kara.”
Lena sat up a little straighter as her guest strode into her office, military bearing obvious even without the uniform on. “Colonel Haley. What can I do for you?”
“You can tell me where my assets are, for starters.” Haley wasted no time in leveling the accusation.
Lena raised her eyebrows in faux surprise, “Assets? And what assets would those be?”
“Don’t play dumb, Miss Luthor. What have you done with Supergirl and the others?”
The theater continued, “Surely you’re not accusing me of kidnapping National City’s sweetheart, are you, Colonel? I assure you, I’m just as worried about her disappearance as you must be.”
“We know that she was sneaking out to visit you.” Haley continued aggressively, but with hardly any change in her tone. The woman was like a brick wall.
“Sneaking out? Are you implying the Girl of Steel was breaking her bedtime to come chat with me? After the Alien Amnesty Act, all aliens should have the same rights as humans. That means that there should be no unlawful detention. So unless you’re telling me Supergirl was a prisoner of Uncle Sam, there should be no reason she couldn’t have free reign to fly around the city as she pleased.”
Haley narrowed her eyes at her, jaw clenching visibly. Lena allowed a smirk to settle over her face.
“You know, it’s funny. I wasn’t aware that the army and FBI were running a joint operation in partnership with Supergirl. Because she is supposed to be working with the FBI, right? Not some clandestine organization who thinks they can skirt privacy laws and the needs for warrants to execute surveillance on a private citizen or business.”
Reaching into a desk drawer, Lena pulled out a small box of electronics, sliding them across the desk, “I believe these are yours? Word to the wise, we’re doing daily security sweeps in these trying times. Please stop sending people to bug my office and hotel room. Otherwise, I might have to figure out exactly what branch of government you’re working with and expose them in a lawsuit.”
“This isn’t over, Miss Luthor. We know you’re hiding Supergirl. When we find her, you’ll both be brought to heel.”
“Careful who you threaten, Colonel. I have the resources to shine a bright light onto your professional life. Now, get the hell out of my building and if you come back without a warrant, I’ll have you thrown out by security.”
It was so satisfying to watch Haley retreat with her tail tucked between her legs, but Lena wanted to make sure she was good and gone before moving on with the rest of her day. “Jess, go ahead home for the day, I’m done here.”
She just had to pack up a few things from the hotel and she could be on her way to where she’d been aching to go all week.
An hour later, Lena stepped through a personal portal and into the sizable cottage she’d purchased in Kaznia. She was greeted immediately with a cheer of her name and strong arms scooping her up into a hug.
“Kara!” She laughed, feet dangling a bit, “Put me down, darling, you’re going to crush the groceries.”
Kara gasped and set her gently back on her feet, blue eyes sparkling with mischief as she grabbed from the large bags Lena had dangling from her wrists, “Tell me you brought potstickers!”
“You know I did.” Lena was so happy to see her, she sank into Kara’s kiss with a relieved groan when the exuberant Kryptonian caught her up in an embrace again.
“This is why you’re my favorite.” Kara murmured against her lips.
“You’re my favorite, too, my love.” Lena assured her, “And you have me all weekend. Barring literal explosions, of course.”
“I’m so happy to hear that. Come on, let’s get you settled.” Kara gallantly took all of Lena’s bags and luggage and led her through the house.
It had been just a couple months since she’d helped Kara, J’onn, and Mon-El escape the country. Lex’s holdings in Kaznia had given her the idea to set up shop here and she’d only needed to hide them at his old mansion for two weeks before she finished his portal technology and was able to truly give them an escape.
The cottage was a new purchase, one Lena had gone to great lengths to obfuscate the acquisition of, but considering she’d used Lex’s own alias of Sebastian Melmoth, she was pretty confident it wouldn’t be traced back to her. It was near enough to a medium sized town that a few new arrivals wouldn’t raise much alarm, but far enough away from people that it was highly unlikely anyone would ever see them using their powers.
Lena tried to come by every weekend to spend time with Kara, though last time she’d been called away for an emergency that was really just investors freaking out over nothing. This time, she refused to let anything get in the way of seeing her beloved girlfriend.
Once groceries were put up and luggage was stowed away, Kara dragged her outside to greet the guys.
The three of them worked odd construction jobs for their daily keep; even though Lena had it set up so that their bills were taken care of, they still needed grocery and fun money. Mon-El had fit in right away with simple tasks like building and lifting. J’onn had taken the guise of a dark skinned human man, quiet, but smart and he got recommended into foreman positions often enough to keep work flowing to them all. Kara, as a woman, was the odd one out, but she didn’t take anyone’s shit and the fact she was stronger than everyone helped to keep a lot of people off her back on job sites.
It was honest work and under the table, even though Lena had set them up with some simple aliases that would allow them to get bank accounts if they wanted to. They’d all seemed to agree that the best bank was under their mattresses for now.
They also all had weekends off and had set up the outside patio as a three seasons hangout. Winter would see them all inside next to the fireplace, but for now, they all gathered round the firepit to indulge in the alien alcohol that Lena found for them or fancy human beers that just tasted good.
Today seemed to be the latter as J’onn and Mon-El raised their bottles to Lena as she exited the cottage, attached to Kara’s hand like a lifeline. A plate of food was thrust into one hand, a bottle of beer into the other and Lena was directed down into the chair that was quickly becoming hers when she was here.
When she wasn’t in Kara’s lap.
That was another thing, Kara was so open in her affection here, in front of the guys, that it was a little bit like she was marking her territory. Lena didn’t mind so much; after five days apart, worrying constantly, she wanted to snuggle up to her girlfriend, too. It was only in public that it made her itch and only because Kaznia wasn’t known for its pro gay support.
She knew Kara also had her own doubts about their relationship, sometimes. It was difficult, with the distance and the hiding, to believe that they’d be together for the long run. Lena knew because she felt that, too, when they were apart, even when she was determined to keep them together.
So, when she finished her food and her beer, she got up from her chair and climbed into Kara’s lap, snuggling into her with a contented sigh and feeling Kara relax beneath her like she hadn’t hardly been breathing since Lena left abruptly last Saturday morning. Maybe she hadn’t.
While Mon-El was in the middle of telling some story or another, Lena sighed and pressed a kiss to Kara’s cheek, whispering, “I missed you.”
When Kara’s arms tightened around her and lips brushed her temple, Lena knew it was the right thing to do.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Later that night, Lena tried her best to keep her voice down as Kara pounded a very thick strap into her just the way she liked it. They had music playing at a loud, but still respectable volume, and Lena was wearing a psychic inhibitor, but if she cried out the way they both wanted her to, there’d be no mistaking what was happening in this room.

Kara didn’t seem to care about that so much, but Lena wasn’t sure she could look either of the guys in the eye tomorrow if she came screaming Kara’s name. So, she clamped a hand over her own mouth and tried to keep herself muffled as Kara hit a spot inside her that made her see stars.

Above her, Kara started laughing, husky and strained, but amused nonetheless, “Just let go, Lena, there’s absolutely no secrets in this house.”

She didn’t stop thrusting, so it took Lena a moment to find a voice that wasn’t mindless moaning. When she did, she hissed out, “I only want you to know what I sound like in bed.”

Kara’s eyes softened and she reached up with both hands to tangle her fingers together with Lena’s, pressing back into the pillows, “I love you, Lena, I want to make you feel good. Stop holding yourself back.”

Those words, as they always did, sent lightning racing through Lena’s body, but it did the trick. She relaxed under Kara, gasping and moaning as she was fucked within an inch of her life, “Oh, Kara, I love you, too.”

After that, the music might as well have not been playing for the way Lena’s voice rang out in the room. Later, when they switched and Lena was taking Kara from behind, she was even louder and far more vocal about what she wanted. Lena didn’t think to feel embarrassed about it all until they were panting and curled up on top of the blankets together.

She sighed and buried her head in Kara’s neck, “Someday, it’ll just be you and me. I’ll stay at the Baldwin until I can bring you home and you and I will go house hunting together. Maybe get a place out of the city so you can fly whenever you want. I’ll get the three of you registered, help you find jobs. Maybe you could go to school? I know you never did, but you might like all the structured learning.”

“Sounds like a dream.” Kara murmured, a little sadly.

“No, it’s a goal. Something to work towards.” Lena sighed, “I feel so obligated towards the company, otherwise I’d pack up and you and I could travel the world together like good little trust fund babies.”

“I know turning the company around is what you want.” Lena hated how small Kara sounded and pulled back so she could look her in the eye.

“I want you. Don’t ever doubt that, Kara. I love you. If you asked me to run away with you, I would have a hard time saying no, but if we don’t fix things, you will be on the run forever. I don’t want that for you. I want you to have happiness and stability and choice. I’ve been talking to lawyers and working every day towards that goal.”

“What do the lawyers say?” Kara’s interest peaked.

“That the government has no legal reason to keep you after Alien Amnesty. That if you don’t want to work for them, you shouldn’t have to. But the reality is, unless we can prove their involvement and coercion of you, they could just do it again, off the books. So, we want to expose the DEO. Best way to do that is an expose. I’ve been gathering evidence, but it’s slow going if I don’t want it traced back to me.”

“How long do you think?”

“Three months, hopefully sooner, but I don’t want my timetable to be too optimistic. Every time they hack me, bug my company servers, they open themselves up to my own trojans. I just have to adjust timings so it doesn’t look like, you know, the trojans are coming in every time they open a hack into me.”

“Because that would be obvious.”

“Exactly. I’m working with Cat Grant herself on the expose. I’ve been feeding her information on the DEO and how they treat prisoners and assets alike. It’s horrifying stuff, actually, I don’t think even the President knows how deep it goes. If she does, though, this could rain hell on the entire system.”

Kara snuggled closer and pressed kisses to Lena’s jaw and throat, “You are working hard for me.”

“I know it’s hard to remember when we’re not together, my love, but I’m thinking about you every moment we’re apart. Please, don’t lose faith in me. I will bring you home to me and then we never have to be separated again.”

“I wish I could help.” Kara sighed forlornly and Lena surged over to kiss her hard.

“You do help. God, just meeting you has helped me in so many ways. My life was so empty before you, filled with spite and paranoia. You came in and replaced it all with love and light.”

Lena was clutching Kara desperately, but Kara was clinging just as hard, eyes shining with emotion, “You gave me hope again. I love you, Lena, so much.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lena awoke with a start, hearing a clattering in the kitchen downstairs. The sun was barely poking over the treeline, its warm rays not even filtering in through the one way glass of her bedroom windows. Cautiously, Lena crept from bed, slipping on a robe and heading quietly through the house until she found a figure rifling through her pantry in the kitchen.
“Raiding my kitchen again, Miss Zor-El?” Lena purred, watching Kara jump and turn to her with a guilty look.
“Lena! I was just, um, I’m sorry, did I wake you again?” Kara moved towards her, wringing her hands anxiously, and Lena leaned up for a greeting kiss.
“It’s okay, darling, but you know I always get a little nervous ever since you almost set the kitchen on fire when I was still at the Baldwin.” Kara looked sheepish at the reminder, but it just made Lena kiss her again.
“I’ve gotten so much better since then.” She grumbled, slipping her arms around Lena’s waist anyway, “I just wanted to make you pancakes.”
“Well, you are very sweet, but now that I’m up, why don’t I start with dessert?” Lena pushed Kara lightly until she was backed up against the counter, laughing as Lena sank to her knees.
“Insatiable.” Kara chided playfully, even as she eagerly helped Lena tug her sleep shorts and underwear down.
An hour later, Lena sighed contentedly from her position laying on Kara’s chest on the couch, both of them naked as the days they were born. Kara was drawing her hand up and down Lena’s back in a half massage, half caress as they both relaxed in the afterglow.
It had been six months since they’d moved into the house together, eight since Lena had helped expose the DEO and their treatment of Supergirl, both as an adult and a child. Kara had enrolled in fall courses at National City University in journalism, inspired by Clark, Cat Grant, and the way Lena had wielded the story to bring justice and change to everyone victimized by the DEO and the US government.
“I don’t have any money.” Kara hummed regretfully, “So, it was hard to get the materials, but I managed to recycle some metal from my old pod when it got released to me.”
Lena looked up at Kara in interest as she shifted to grab a jacket she’d slung over the arm of the couch when she’d come home from class yesterday. “Space metal? That’s cool.”
“I made you something, but there’s a whole story that goes with it.” Kara pulled something from the pocket of the jacket and held it up to Lena’s sight. It was a bracelet, simple, but neat, engraved with the House of El symbol on the outside and some Kryptonian on the inside. Lena had been learning, but it still took her a moment to read and translate.
“‘My love, always and forever.’.” Lena looked at Kara in surprise and found blue eyes watching her with cautious hope.
“On Krypton, we don’t exchange rings. We exchange bracelets.” Kara paused, then hummed, “I guess that wasn’t a long story, after all.”
“Are you asking me to marry you?” Lena breathed out, wide eyed in shock.
“Yes?” Kara cleared her throat, then tried again, more confidently. “Yes.”
“Then ask me, so I can answer.”
“Lena, will you marry m-”
Lena surged up to kiss Kara, mumbling, ‘Yes, yes, yes.’ in between kisses, making Kara laugh until they both nearly fell off the couch.
“Wait, wait, let me put this on your wrist before we go for round three.” Kara laughed, reaching for Lena’s hand as it wandered between her legs.
No sooner had the cool metal been secured around Lena’s wrist than did two fingers slip home inside Kara’s slick pussy. “A ring would make it awkward to do this, I suppose.”
“Lena.” Kara half whined, half laughed, “Don’t make me laugh while you fuck me like this.”
“Would hate to have to go fishing for a diamond in the mine.” Lena said crudely, simply because she knew Kara would find it funny.
Kara did, of course, throwing her head back with a snorting cackle, even as her hips rolled up onto three of Lena’s fingers, “Dammit, Lena, I can’t focus like this. Come here!”
Lena squealed as she was lifted bodily and they wrestled playfully on the couch, exchanging kisses and searching, tickling touches. It was the growling of Kara’s stomach that got them up, washing and redressing and making pancakes together in their kitchen in their home.
Life wasn’t perfect; there was still a lot of anti alien sentiment, the DEO coming to light had people on both sides up in arms for different reasons. The Alien Registry was still private for now, but if anyone knew Kara was a Kryptonian, she would be under threat. L-Corp had its own struggles as Lena tried desperately to move away from her family’s influence and reputation. Supergirl still made appearances when an otherworldly threat came onto the scene, but the heroine of National City was not there to stop petty crimes anymore.
Their relationship wasn’t perfect, either. They fought over small things, both had tempers and traumas and bad habits. Love kept them together, kept them working hard for each other. They never dated publicly in National City, instead, Kara would fly them or they’d use a portal to go all around the world. Lena was determined to show Kara everything she’d missed growing up under the thumb of the government, this whole beautiful, imperfect world.
Kara just wanted to show Lena how much she was loved.
They were happy together and this was just the start of their future. Together, for always.
