Chapter 1: I was Invited

Chapter Text

The Smash Mansion was lively as ever when the fighters discovered that more fighters would be joining the roster and taking part in the tournament. One of the fighters was looking through the windows of the mansion, excited about one fighter joining them. He is a young angel with a pair of short wings wearing a white tunic with a pair of black shorts. Despite his young appearance, he is wearing sandals with a golden wreath on his fluffy, brown hair. His blue eyes were glowing in delight, ready for this fighter to show up already!

“Is there a reason you’re so excited, Pit?” a friendly, young prince asked as he approached the excited, young angel.

“Oh! Roy!” Pit, the commander of Lady Palutena’s army and one of the last angels, exclaimed in delight, “Yeah! I am! I can’t wait to see a good friend of mine again!”

Roy is the son of Eliwood and Ninian. He is a young Marquess of Pherae. He has flaming, orange hair with a pair of deep, blue eyes. Despite being a prince, he is wearing blue, knight armor with a black shirt underneath him. He has a pair of white pants with long, blue boots. He has a pair of blue gloves as a blue bandana wraps around his head to keep his hair out of his face. His sword, the Binding Blade, is at his side with his cape flowing behind him.

“A friend? Who is that? Do we know this person?” Roy asked curiously, wondering who it could be.

He placed a hand on his face and wondered who it could be. There were a lot of fighters that the others wanted to invite to the tournament. He hoped it would be someone friendly and willing to have a good fight here and there despite losing some of the time.

The fireplace behind them began to catch fire. They could feel the warmth and turned to see it coming alive. Roy and Pit stared at the fireplace with Roy being prepared for a fight while Pit was excited, holding a silly grin. The fireplace burst to release a person from it! Roy was surprised to see this person coming from the fire while Pit ran to hug tackle the person.

“Zagreus!” Pit shouted in delight as he released Zagreus who only ruffled Pit’s hair in a friendly manner.

Zagreus is the Prince of the Underworld. He is the son of Hades, the Lord of the Dead, and Persephone, the Queen of the Underworld and Goddess of Verdure. He is also expecting to be an older brother to his precious, little sister Melinoë. He has black hair with a golden wreath with red along it. He has a pair of heterochromia eyes. A red eye in the same appearance as his father while a green eye from his mother. Zagreus is wearing a red and black tunic with a shoulder pad that resemblances the heads of his favorite dog, Cerberus. He has a skull themed belt wrapped around his waist to hold his red pants. He has dark, red bands around his wrist. He has armor on his knees with his feet glowing an orange color.

Roy did not expect this person to be the fighter Pit would be excited to see. He wondered how this new fighter received an invitation to the tournament.

“Well, you can thank Pit for that” Zagreus answered as he caught Roy’s thinking expression, “We helped each other out with a situation that happened in our home world. It was rather hectic, but we were able to do something about it before it got out of hand”

Roy wondered what he meant as Pit excitedly flapped his wings. He couldn’t wait to tell the story with Zagreus laughing before shrugging as he decided now would be a good of a time as ever.

“Well, we don’t have the Muses nor Orpheus to do the storytelling. We should get on it ourselves” Zagreus said excitedly, “Are you ready to do this, Pit?”

Pit ran to the couch, jumped on it, and announced, “Alright! Get ready for the best story of your life, Roy! It is the tale of how Zagreus and I saved both the Heavens and Hell from the evil Medusa’s grasp as well as protect the humans as well!”

Roy wasn’t entirely sure how to feel about that last part of Pit’s sentence, but he was also half dragon. It doesn’t matter to him. He supposed and took a seat on the other couch. Zagreus only laughed himself before sitting next to Roy as Pit was ready to being the tale himself.

As much as Pit is going to tell the tale to Roy, that task would be left up to me, Homer. Well, and a little help from Orpheus, the Muses, and this young writer who is dictating this tale on an advanced tablet that I have never seen before. Regardless, our tale begins when the young angel, Pit, was flying above the skies in Skylands to reach Mount Olympus to attend a party of the Gods.

“Again, today I go souring through the skies!” Pit sang happily as he let his wings carry him to the party, “Gracious Goddess of Light! Watches from above! At dinner time I always show the cook some love!”

“And again, with that song of yours, Pit” a heavenly voice spoke in his mind as she directed Pit to Mount Olympus, “You better be careful about singing that! I do not know how the Muses would feel about it!”

Pit only shook his head as he closed his eyes, feeling the wind run through his hair and face. He enjoyed this so much and couldn’t wait to see everyone on Olympus. Apparently, they were going to be some special guests coming! Lady Palutena mentioned that her brothers would be attending along with her sister. She was excited to see everyone again after so long!

As for Zagreus, he woke up with a stretch and yawned from his messy bed and unkempt room. He didn’t have a song himself, but he could hear Orpheus singing a tune that Zagreus made as a joke. He still felt proud of that to this day.

“Zagreus!” a motherly voice called to him that only made him feel delight, “Come out! We have to get going otherwise we will be late! Though, I doubt that really matters when we have your cousins to consider”

That got a laugh out of the Prince of the Underworld who picked himself up and went to get his red and black tunic to cover his battle one. He wanted to look a little bit more respectful than normal, but he didn’t think his cousins would care as much as his uncles and grandma.

“Coming! I am coming, mother!” the prince of the Underworld announced before rushing out of his room to join his family.

He found himself standing in front of his father’s desk who was going over important details to Zagreus’s mother figure, Nyx, the Goddess of the Night. She had pale skin, long, dark hair. She is wearing a dark, purple tunic and had some golden jewelry. A golden crown with black feathers rested on her head with her golden eyes glowing

“Do not worry, my lord. I will ensure everything will be handled with care and easy. Nothing will be out of order as I am in charge of the Tartarus in your absence. You should enjoy your time with your family” Nyx reassured him with a small smile, “You will not be alone either as Thanatos and Hypnos will be present at your side if you need their aid at all”

Hades sighed before turning to his beloved wife who was smiling in agreement at Nyx’s offer. That would be Hades the Lord of the Dead and King of the Underworld. He is a massive, great man with black hair and beard and a pair of deep, glowing red eyes that are tired. He has a gold and red wreath on his head. A red tunic covered him with beautiful, riches jewelries covered him. There is a golden belt wrapped around his waist to hold his dark pants with golden gauntlets with the gems decorated it. There is a giant skull resting on his right shoulder.

“Zagreus, boy, are you ready?” Hades asked as he was doing his best to be an appropriate father to his son.

They were still learning more and doing their best, but they were not at an appropriate level yet. Though, they were still trying. That is what matters.

“Doing alright, father. Ah, how is Cerberus faring? Are you going to be alright without us boy?” Zagreus asked as he walked over to the giant, fluffy, red three-headed dog to give him the good pets that he deserved.

The guardian of the Underworld happily licked and cuddle with the prince who laughed in delight. The sight did give Hades a bit of warmth to thaw his coldness which did not go unnoticed by his lovely wife.

Persephone is the Goddess of Verdure and the Queen of the Underworld. She has blonde hair with beautiful, fresh, pair of green eyes. She is wearing a dress decorated in black and red colors with skulls acting as pins to hold her dress up along with the golden jewelries that were given to her by her husband. Her crown is made of skulls and the same gold and red wreath resting and holding her blonde hair up.

She was excited to have her family with her on one of her trips to Olympus. She knew her mother would dote on her, but she didn’t want to be alone with everyone else if she could help it. Even loosening the bindings on her precious son to take him up there to be with his cousins brought so much joy to her.

“Oh, I am sure Cerberus will be fine without us” she reassured her son as she gave the three-headed dog some pets to then pull her son away from him, “But we cannot be too late to go. I know a few of your cousins will be late, but that does not mean we should be. Hades, do and try to get along with your brothers and sisters without threatening another fight. Zagreus, have fun and make sure Thanatos does as well. The poor boy needs some break and to enjoy himself once in a while”

“Oh, I know that mother. I plan to do exactly that when we arrive on Olympus” Zagreus said in a warm, excited tone.

Nyx floated in front of the Underworld family with her hands glowing a mystical energy that challenged her powers.

“It would be rude to keep them waiting for longer” Nyx reminded them with a smile, “As you know, my sons are there. You have nothing to fear. Now, it is time for you to go”

Zagreus stood in front of his parents as they were standing behind their son while holding their hands. Nyx raised her hands as the darkness of the night covered them to whisk the Underworld family to the gates of Olympus.

“Ah, so that is how Than travels. It is a fun feeling. Wish he would do that with me once in a while” Zagreus commented before adjusting his eyes to the brightness of the gates of Olympus with a grin, “So, this is where everyone else lives. I can’t wait to see what it looks like”

The gates were made of the precious materials of gold and silver, decorated with the most expensive gems the earth has to offer. Clouds and brightness covered the entrance to give it warming welcome as well as an air superiority to it.

“I can’t believe this is where you and grandmother resided for a time, mother” Zagreus commented, “It seems very bright and peaceful compared to back home”

Persephone only laughed before commenting, “Bright, yes. Peaceful? That is an understatement. There is a reason I didn’t mind leaving this place and never returning to it, my son. Although I did have your grandmother, that wasn’t enough”

Hades glared at the gate as if his gaze could destroy it. Zagreus was curious to why they were crossed with a place like this, but his mother stepped up and approached the gates.

“In the name of Queen of the Underworld, I, Persephone, command you to open the gates to Olympus!” his mother declared in a strong voice as Hades and Zagreus took their steps away from her.

The golden gates began to shake before slowly opening a path among the endless clouds. It reminded Zagreus of his mother’s chant before opening the gates to Tartarus. He was always admired how powerful and strong his mother is.

“Well, that should do it” Persephone commented as she placed her hands on her hips, “Come along. I imagine the others are already inside and causing a fit of sorts. It is always the case with our family. I would rather this party be over and done with before anything dreadful were to occur. Lastly, do be on your best behaviors, boys. I mean it when I saw I do not want any kind of fights breaking out”

Both agreed with her and promised to not cause any trouble for Persephone. With that, she grabbed her husband’s arm and pulled him along to march up the steps to Olympus. Zagreus couldn’t wait any longer and ran on ahead of his parents, excited to see everyone again and in person.

“Hello everyone! It is nice to be in a place filled with light and life instead of the dead. How goes it?” Zagreus greeted as he found himself facing the banquet hall filled with his distant yet close family members lounging about before rushing to greet the young prince of the Underworld, delighted to see him outside.

Persephone was delighted to see this lovely sight as Hades held a strong position, not even bothering to smile. However, the king was relieved to see that his son did have such good family members who did care for him.

“Ah! Hades! It is nice to see my brother again! How are you and the queen faring?!” the thundering voice of Zeus spoke as he happily greeted the couple with their other brother and two sisters following them.

Zeus has a similar appearance to Hades. The major difference is in hair and eye colors. Zeus has a long, white beard with thundering, yellow eyes. He is wearing a golden tunic with a pair of golden arm bands wrapped around his wrists. A lightning crown rests upon the head of the King of the Gods and the God of Lighting.

“Yes, it is wonderful to see you as well, brother” Hades agreed in a reluctant manner before shaking his brother’s hand.

Suddenly, a pair of arms was thrown over their shoulders with a delightful laugh was expressed.

“Come on, Hades! You can lighten up! We are at a party as friends and family!” the third brother, Poseidon, expressed in joy, “And you have your lady back with your son having the time of his life here! What more could you ever ask for?!”

He has muscle much like his brothers, but he is still as mighty as the seas he commands. His hair is a seaweed color with eyes to match the roaring waves. He has a silver ring cloak hanging from his neck with a coral crown resting on his head. He is wearing a coral themed pants with sandals on his feet. A fitting attire for the God of the Seas.

“Yes, well, I normally work all the time compared to the two of you” Hades reminded them, “It is not so easy for me to relax entirely since I must know that everything is falling into place and not dissolving to a chaotic state. Of course, not the chaotic state that Chaos reigns near me. Chaos is much easier to talk with and negotiate than the annoying mortals who come to me”

Zeus and Poseidon understood or were trying to in a better manner. Of course, that was always hard for them. Suddenly, all three felt a chill as they turned to see both of their sisters approaching them.

“I am only thankful to see my lovely daughter returned to me” Demeter commented before embracing her Persephone, “And do hope you aware that whatever you do up here will impact her work down there. If not, I do not mind sending you a demonstration”

This would be Demeter, the Goddess of the Winters. She dons a fresh, silvery dress with a beautiful, fluffy, white coat resting on her shoulders with a heath behind her. Her blonde hair is held by a silver crown with her silver eyes holding motherly love to her daughter and grandson only.

Her brothers let out nervous chuckles with their other sister agreeing with Demeter as she giggled.

“I can only agree. Cleaning up after you and the humans is a full-time chore. Do you want us to be busy forever?” Lady Paluetna asked with a knowing tone, delighted to be able to tease her brothers and sister again in a friendly manner.

She has long, flowing, green hair and beautiful blue eyes. She is wearing a long, white dress decorated with golden jewelries, trinkets, and even some weapons held by brown belts and a red pin. She has a pair of golden armored wrists guards on her hands. She has a stocking on her right leg, but nothing on her left one. She is wearing sandals with straps that cover her legs. A golden, wreath is placed on her head. Palutena is the Goddess of Light.

“Speaking of keeping the peace, where is that angel of yours?!” Zeus asked in a booming voice, “You mentioned he has a brother now. Where is he?”

Palutena answered in a reassuring tone, “Oh, they’re coming, but I believe Pittoo is with Viridi. Pit should be on his way in no time! Though, he is nothing compared to Hermes. Also, why was I one of the last few gods to know about your son, Hades? It was bad enough that I had to deal with that parallel version of yourself that dad released back then”

She, Pit, Viridi, and Pittoo fought against Hades in the past to stop his unquenchable lust for destruction against the humans and gods who trapped him in the Underworld. Lady Palutena later discovered that her brother was not the one who caused this, but rather another version of himself from a different timeline. She wondered what went wrong in that timeline, but she had a theory that it involved his marriage to Persephone.

“Can you blame, sister?” Hades said with a groan, “I am a busy man. I was unaware that Nyx and Zagreus created such a scheme in the first place”

His siblings and wife merely laughed as they were happy to be chatting like this once again.

“This is wonderful to see you all again! Well, in person rather than a vision I would see after saying an incantation” Zagreus commented, “How do you all fair? Better than the shades and the dead, I would hope”

His cousins laughed with his boyfriend groaning at the joke Zagreus had no doubt told more than five times to anyone in Tartarus that would listen to him.

“Come on, Than. It is a party. I may not be as good as Dionysus, but I want to try and liven things up” Zagreus expressed in delight to his partner who merely rolled his eyes.

Thanatos is the God of Death. He is wearing a gray rob with a belt loosely wrapped around his waist. He has a pair of sandals on his feet. His white hair is cut short with his golden eyes glowing with fond annoyance at his partner’s nonsense. He doesn’t have his scythe since he is at a party.

“I understand that, but you could get another joke” Than pointed out with an eye roll, “That joke is beyond dead”

Zagreus only shrugged with Thanatos’ twin brother laughing at it while leaning back in the air. This would be Hypnos, the God of Sleep. He has the same white hair as his twin only for his hair to be frizzier than his. His golden eyes were tired, but he was happy. A sleep mask is above his eyes with him wearing a red, fancy nightgown with golden edges and sandals.

“I though the joke was pretty good! I never get tired of it every time Zagreus dies!” Hypnos exclaimed as Than only glared at his twin.

Regardless, the party was going well! Everyone was getting along just well, enjoying the food, drinks, and wonderful company each gave each other. It was a rare moment of peace between the gods!

“I am almost there, Lady Paluetna!” Pit announced to his goddess in delight as he soon found the wonderful sight of Olympus appearing before his eyes, “Hi everyone!”

He grinned brightly as he was pulled into Olympus and smiled at the wonderful sight of everyone getting along and not causing trouble with each other. He was about to search for his twin brother until he saw Lady Palutena speaking with her siblings in a happy moment. He could only smile at the sight, happy for his goddess.

Ares, the God of War, pushed Zagreus to knock himself into Pit! Pit was startled by this and turned around to see the prince of the Underworld picking himself up and laughing. Pit wondered about the prince. He did hear about his numerous escape attempts from the Underworld from his own father.

Well, what better time to speak with the prince than now? Pit approached the gods with a warm, friendly expression.

“Hey there!” he greeted as the rest of the gods turned to him before shouting in delight to greet the last of the angels.

Zagreus was curious about this angel, wondering why everyone was so happy to see him here. As for the twins, Hypnos was only laughing with Thanatos holding a deadpanned expression at the sight of him.

“Who is that? Why does everyone like him so much?” Zagreus asked until he noticed Than’s dour expression, “Did he do something to you, Than?”

Thanatos groaned at the memory as Hypnos explained in delight, “Back when a time traveling Hades appeared, he controlled our lovely Than! He’s fine now, so we don’t have to worry about him anymore!”

Thanatos only groaned as Zagreus’s expression brightened in delight. He had to thank the angel for saving his partner! Without even waiting, Zagreus ran to greet Pit who was happily exchanging stories with the gods.

“Oh, yeah! The tournament was great! I actually fought with more people than you can believe! I am sure you’ve heard of them! They’re amazing!” Pit expressed in delight as he gushed about his time at Smash Brothers.

This peeked Zagreus’s interest who wanted to learn about this tournament. After all, he did fight a few interesting foes and conquered through Tartarus! He should be able to handle this! Zagreus approached Pit who stood talking and stared at him with wide eyes.

“Oh, sorry if I scared you” Zagreus expressed before holding his hand, “I am Zagreus, the prince of the Underworld as well as the God of the Blood. I hope you do not mind me asking, but what is this tournament of yours? Hoping I could be invited to it somehow”

That was all Pit needed to hear before gushing at Zagreus about his time in one of the most ambitious, adventurous tournaments in the world! The prince was delighted to hear this as both exchanged stories of their adventures and fighting with others.

Just as the peaceful party between the gods was commencing, something was occurring near the entrance to Tartarus and at the old cottage Persephone resided in before her son went to retrieve her to return to the Tartarus to be the queen she was always meant to be.

Chapter 2: A Few Hours Ago…

Summary:

To be honest, I don’t even know if I am close to the halfway point of Hades 2. I did defeat Cerberus and almost killed Prometheus, but I still don’t know if that is close to it. I feel like there’s so much more in that game than I think. I still don’t even know where Ares is! Enjoy!

Chapter Text

“I can’t believe you’re fine without going to such a party” another angel commented with a sassy tone and attitude to follow.

He has the same physical appearance as Pit, but his clothes were black. His hair is black with dark, purple eyes. His wings are also a black color. He is currently standing with the goddess he decided to work with even though she had obvious feelings for his “brother”. He is called Dark Pit, but everyone calls him by his nickname, Pittoo.

“Why did you not want to go in the first place?” Pittoo asked in a teasing tone before looking at the beautiful vegetation growing around the cottage, “Hang on, are you related to Persephone or Demeter at all?”

He plucked a grape off a vine to eat in delight. It was sweet and savoring as wine almost! He was sure that Persephone’s magic still had some effects over the land.

She only huffed before answering, “No, we are distantly related and all that. I would not worry about our complicated family tree. It is not worth it. If you need to know, just check Divinipedia or the Smash Wiki”

This is Viridi, the Goddess of Nature. She has blonde hair tied in a high ponytail with a crown made of thorns wrapped around her hair. She is wearing a purple shirt with a purple brooch pinning to hold it. She is wearing a red dress with some vines covering it. She has hazel eyes scanning the many vegetables and fruits growing at Persephone’s cottage.

“Also, I didn’t expect her cottage to be covered in this much plant life! I can’t believe she gave this up!” Viridi expressed in delight as she skipped around to see the flowers growing, “Though, I suppose being Queen of the Underworld isn’t such a bad thing either. I can sort of understand this”

Pittoo only rolled his eyes at her nature before looking at everything. He didn’t understand why they needed to be here. It didn’t seem to be in trouble nor hold anything powerful that Persephone carried. Sure, he didn’t want to deal with the gods, but he wouldn’t mind eating a great fest meant to thank him for all his hard work!

Viridi did have her reasons for being here. She wanted to remove Persephone’s influence over the land. She didn’t want humans to discover this place and use her powers for their own needs. She could never understand how Palutena and Pit cared for the humans. All they did was cause so much trouble and hurt the land and nature! They destroyed most of her hard work! What is even the point of them!?

“Sigh, this might take a while. If you want, pick some of the fruits and vegetables to either take with you or eat now” Viridi commented as she held her staff and hovered it around the land, “I want to make sure this place is safe again for humans to use”

Pittoo only shrugged and went to picking out the fruits and vegetables for them to enjoy later and share with the others. If she could get this done sooner, he knew they would head to the party, so he would want to give them something to eat. He went to picking and noticed something was amiss in the area. He wasn’t sure what this was and decided to take a closer look at the fruits and vegetables. He didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary at first only for one of the fruits to burst into flames!

“What the heck?!” Pittoo yelled as he threw the fruit towards a field of wheat that caught fire!

Viridi snapped her head at his direction and demanded, “Hey! What is going on?!”

He summoned his Silver Bow and took aim at the burning fruit, wondering what is happening with it. He never heard of an apple catching fire like this. He didn’t know how this could happen at all.

“Aw, do you not remember me? I certainly remember you and how you stole my powers for your own ambitions!” a feminine, vengeful voice echoed around them as both realized who this was, “Of course, it is me! I will never forget what you did to me!”

The fire swirled from the fields to create a blue orb of fire who yelled at them! A golden halo wrapped around the tip of the flames. She has a pair of white eyes with purple edges around it with a giant mouth with the same purple edge and sharp teeth!

Pittoo and Viridi were ready with Pittoo commenting, “Ah, so the mighty Pandora has returned? I wouldn’t mind having those powers back! Came in handy when I needed to knock some sense into that idiot”

Pandora only rolled her eyes to comment, “Get in line, kid. Your brother is going down by my hand first! I will never forgive him for what he did!”

Pittoo scoffed, promising that he would defeat her before she ever got to Pit. As much as he is annoyed with his brother, he would never let anything happen to him due to their bond, but the dark angel did care.

“You’ve got this?” Viridi asked seriously, “I am still trying to remove Persephone’s powers. I’ll speed up the process, but it will not take long”

Pittoo shook his head as he broke his bow into two blades to then spinning it in his hands. He took a stance and held his ground.

“Don’t worry about me! I’ve it! Hurry up and focus on your powers!” Pittoo said seriously as he charged at Pandora, “I’ve got her before, so I can definitely beat her again!”

Pandora only laughed as she cast a few, blue, flaming spheres only for Pittoo to swing his blades to cut the spheres in half as he was closing in on her! Pandora burst herself into flames to protect herself and burn away Pittoo who pulled back to summon his Guardian Orbitars to block the blue flames to then taking aim with his bow.

“Eat this!” Pittoo remarked as he fired a few, black arrows at her!

She counters with a wave of fire that burns away the arrows as she laughs to unleash a powerful wave of fire towards him. He flaps his wings to fly away from her to then keep his distance from her and her fire! Once he was above her, he summersaulted forward with his bow broke into blades to deliver a powerful strike down! Pandora let out a cry as she crashed into the ground! Pittoo sighed as he pulled away and wiped the sweat off his head.

“That should do it” he commented as he saw Pandora’s flames disappearing from his form, “Now, I wouldn’t mind taking those powers for myself”

He reached out to her form to take her powers only for the flames to burst to strike him! Pittoo let out a painful yell as he was burnt and knocked away!

“What is going on?!” Viridi shouted as she turned to see her angel burnt and defeated, “Hey! What gives you the right to do this?!”

Pandora chuckled before answering, “To be honest, this wasn’t even about him, even though I would like for it to be. I am only grateful to get my revenge on him, even if it is little. No, my target is his brother, Pit!”

Viridi’s eyes were wide as another voice commented, “And not to mention the goddess he serves and has a “soft spot” for you. I want him and her to suffer for what they’ve done to me!”

The goddess of nature recognized this voice and gripped her staff tightly. She prepared herself to face the Goddess of Darkness, Medusa!

She has deathly pale skin with a pair of golden eyes with a mark over her left eye. Her hair is made of snakes as she wore a similar outfit to Lady Palutena except hers was black. She is holding a golden staff with a purple tip at the end. She is decorated with golden jewelries as well.

“What do you want with this place?” Viridi demanded as she glared at the approaching Medusa with her staff in her hands.

Medusa rolled her eyes before commenting, “Oh, do not worry. I have no intention of using Persephone’s powers. I only wish to dethrone her and claim the throne for myself. It was rightfully mine! I am the Queen of the Underworld!”

Viridi shook her head as she stood her ground against the Goddess of Darkness. She would not bow to her so easily! Pittoo groaned as he noticed this and wanted to ensure that they would have a chance to stop her.

“Come now, little goddess” Medusa reminded as she admired her staff and powers, “Your powers are growing into a blossoming flower. Regardless, this will not be your time to strikes with your vines. Flee this place with your angel, and I shall not hunt you. No one will know of this either, should you choose to speak a word about it”

Viridi only glared at her, still standing her ground and refusing to move at all. She would not be a coward and do nothing! She prepared to summon her Forces of Nature to strike only for Medusa to counter with her darkness to push the little goddess away and use her darkness to rip her staff out of her hands!

“I will not ask this again from you, little goddess” Medusa said in a darker tone, “Surrender now, or suffer the consequences to share the same fate as that annoying angel”

Viridi only glared as Medusa sighed with her golden eyes glimmering a powerful aura. Viridi realized what this was and pulled herself away, trying to not stare into Medusa’s eyes! Pittoo picked himself up and flew to stand between them to stare right at Medusa’s eyes! Viridi wass stunned as Pittoo could feel himself turned to stone!

“Don’t worry about me!” Pittoo snapped at Viridi as he felt everything stiffen and harden, refusing to move, “As long as I can buy you and the others enough time to stop this witch, then it will be worth it! Now get out of here and find my idiot brother!”

Viridi knew better than to squander the chance she was given. She created another staff from a broken root and used its powers to teleport herself away from the scene! Medusa sighed but turned away from the sight as Pandora only glared at the petrified statue of Pittoo. She wished to deliver more strikes against the angel, but this would be fine.

“Should we have let her escape?” Pandora asked annoyed, “She will warn the others. You will also have to worry about the Underworld family. Thanks to their son, he was able to unite the House of Hades into a stronger bond”

Medusa only shook her head with a malicious expression on her features while taking steps towards the Underworld. Pandora only floated behind her with a hesitant, curious expression.

“There are many along the way who will help us achieve our goals of taking the house for ourselves” Medusa informed her with a delightful expression, “You will have nothing to fear as long as you listen to me and follow my orders. Do I make myself clear, Pandora?”

Pandora only shrugged before following and listening to her commands.

“Honestly, this tournament of yours sounds like a delight, Pit” Zagreus commented as he had himself a glass of wine from Dionysus, “Is there any way I could be invited to it? Would not mind a vacation from my job once in a while”

Pit held his face in his hand while tilting it from side-to-side, thinking very hard about this and reflecting on other fighters who did enter the tournament. To be honest, he was not entirely sure how a fighter really entered the tournament in the first place. Most received invitations, just showed up, walked into the stages, or invaded. Some did get an invitation from other fighters.

“Sure, I can write you something” Pit answered without hesitation, “I don’t know when you’ll get the invite, but I am sure I can do something. Well, I am sure Lady Palutena can do something!”

Zagreus commented in delight, “Ah, Aunt Palutena! Sure, she might be able to help me! Could you talk with her? I am still getting acquainted with the family as a whole, so it might be better if you could it”

Pit answered excitedly, “Sure! Do you want to meet with her right now?! She’s awesome! She is an amazing goddess! Better than most of your family members on occasion! But she has her fair share of clashes against her siblings too”

He recalled her contracts with Poseidon whenever he flew above the seas and oceans. According to her, Poseidon did not want to deal with another person falling into it again. He wondered who did that. Zagreus wasn’t sure if he should go up to his aunt to ask about this, especially since his parents are near there. He wouldn’t want to worry them and would also want to reassure Than that he would return and not leave him again. Pit rushed to Lady Palutena and couldn’t wait to tell her the good news.

“Ah! Pit, do you want to wait a moment? I don’t know if this is such a good idea!” Zagreus warned as he ran after the angel to stop him from asking about this.

As both left, the rest of Zagreus’s cousins laughed and shook their heads at their matter. They didn’t think much of this and went back to enjoying the party.

“Well, things are interesting at least” Dionysus commented as he shrugged his shoulders before having another drink, “I don’t understand how many of you want to fight and not take a break to have a fun time. Seriously, do any of you want to take a break and just do nothing?”

He had himself another drink only to laugh and snort for a bit while Artemis shook her head at him.

“Honestly, can’t you keep yourself in check?” Artemis remarked in an annoyed manner, “It even astounds me that you even sent aid to Zagreus in the first place. It is even astounding to me that you can fight. It should be commendable that he wants to keep up his skills while taking some time off”

She did enjoy her cousin’s company and will to fight as well as even bothering to listen to her and her troubles. She could thank him for that and do whatever she can to support him. She wondered about the others at times, but she can’t make their decisions. She could only force them if she wanted to. She picked up a familiar scent and turned to see a flower blossoming behind them!

“What is this?” she whispered as she approached this before pulling out her bow and walking towards it.

She was on guard as the flower blossomed to release Virdi from it!

“Viridi?!” Artemis exclaimed as her twin brother, Apollo, and Hermes rushed to help her stand up, “Are you ok?”

The goddess of nature shoved both off her as she ran towards Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Persephone, Demeter, and Palutena with a serious expression on her features. She was beyond furious about having to retreat and would want to get her revenge against Medusa for what she did.

“What brings you here, Viridi?” Zeus commented with a laugh, “Thought you didn’t enjoy our parties!”

She shook her head before pointing her staff accusingly at Palutena to remark, “I was busy removing Persephone’s influence over her little cottage as a favor only to find myself attacked by Medusa herself! She and Pandora forced me to retreat as they turned Pittoo into a statue”

With the Goddess of Nature’s words echoing throughout the party, everyone was silence and stunned to hear about this revelation.

“I thought you took care of Medusa, dear sister” Poseidon commented as he swung his trident over his shoulders, “What happened this time? Did our brother resurrect the Goddess of Darkness again?”

Hades sent a glare to the God of the Seas to inform in a serious tone, “Excuse me, but I have been busy with keeping the Underworld in check, reuniting with my wife, and ensuring that the realm is in order of sorts. It is rather hard to do such a thing with the chaos everyone up here causes me”

He huffed as Persephone stepped in to finish explaining for her husband while placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, “If I may, I do not believe this was our doing. It is just as my husband spoke of. We have been busy. Everyone in Tartarus has been devoted to their respective tasks and handling everything in a timely order. There is no way we could’ve released the Goddess of Darkness”

Everyone seemed to calm down by Persephone’s words and only remained quiet. They were deciding what to do next as Hades realized something grave about Viridi’s location.

“Goddess of Nature, you were at my wife’s cottage? Why?” Hades asked seriously as he looked at the little goddess.

She answered without fear of being intimidated by him, “I was helping Demeter. She didn’t want the humans to be aware of Persephone’s presence in the world, so I was fine with removing it since our powers are similar in that regard”

Hades’ eyes were wide before sharply turning to Zagreus and Thanatos. He could tell that both figured out the cause of his worries.

“Get back to Tartarus quickly” Hades ordered the couple seriously, “Inform Nyx about the situation and do not let the house fall into her control again!”

“Of course, father/ Understood, Lord Hades” Zagreus and Thanatos replied before Thanatos turned to Zagreus.

Thanatos reminded with a serious expression before summoning his scythe to his aid, “I can strike you down and force you to return home as I transport myself”

“Ah, the only way back to Tartarus is for me to die? Sounds familiar. Well, I do agree that would be the quickest way. Just be gentle and clean. I don’t want to scare my mother and family in a sense” Zagreus commented with a jest as he prepared himself to be cut down.

Thanatos rolled his eyes before taking his stance with his scythe in hand. Taking a deep breath, he swung the scythe to deliver a powerful strike to cut down his partner who let out a grunt as the Prince of the Underworld returned to the Underworld. Thanatos turned to the king and queen to apologize and disappear in a flash of green light.

Zeus knew Lady Palutena was glaring at him and sighed. He would have to prepare for this as well as help her figure out the troubles that is occurring

With a clap of thunder and flash of lightning, Zeus declared, “Then, the rest of us should make preparations! We do not want to be caught off guard by this! Get to your stations, get your weapons, and do everything you must do to prepare for the fight! The Goddess of Darkness shall not take Olympus!”

The gods rushed to their respective locations to get their armor, weapons, and do everything they would need to ensure they would be ready for the clash against Medusa.

“Lady Palutena, what would you have me do?” Pit asked as he bowed to her with Viridi rolling her eyes at his devoted nature to his goddess.

The Goddess of Light answered in a thoughtful tone, “I think we need to gather more intel on how Medusa was able to free herself from her prison. We should check that out first. Ready to go?”

Pit nodded his head as he summoned his Palutena’s bow. She used the Power of Flight to carry him off to his destination. She noticed that Viridi did not move from her place.

“Is there something wrong?” Lady Palutena asked curiously as Viridi pouted.

The Goddess of Nature answered, “Eh, it doesn’t matter. I am sure it will resolve itself, but I think I know what I need to do. Expect me to appear when all things seem lost, Palutena! You will not count me out just yet!”

She only laughed as she watched the Goddess of Nature disappear in a coat of fallen leaves. Though, the Goddess of Light wondered what Viridi would do next and meant by her words before guiding Pit to his next destination.

Chapter 3: Returning Home

Summary:

I’ve been having so much fun with Hades 2. This is so great. I love Zagreus so much and Meli. Yes, they’re siblings, but their dynamic is amazing! But also, some security specialist, Zag, you failed at the one job! Though, granted, it was the Titan of time, but still! Excellent writing! 10/10! Enjoy!

Chapter Text

“I’ve returned mother. Is everything alright?” Thanatos asked as he arrived in the House of Hades, expecting to find his mother working very hard to handle the Goddess of Darkness.

He was surprised to find the house in order, even if it was a little slow without the Master of the House. Nothing was out of the ordinary and everyone was where they needed to be. Why did the Goddess of Nature give such a worried warning. It didn’t seem like her to give such a warning in the first place unless something dire was happening.

“My child? Does something trouble you? Was the party not to your liking even with Zagreus present?” Nyx asked in a calm tone as she turned her attention to her son, “I do hope you and Nemesis did not fight with each other so soon if your paths did cross”

Thanatos only shook his head to comment, “No, I did not fortunately cross paths with my sister. However, the Goddess of Nature did send a warning about the house being in danger. Mother, has nothing truly happened since the party began?”

Nyx only shook her head as she sensed her son’s worries. She wondered what kind of troubles the Goddess of Nature brought with her. Nyx used her magic to create barrier to reflect on the nature of their world. Thanatos didn’t like this and wondered if the Goddess of Darkness was not here yet!

“Mother, we do not have much time” Thanatos informed her seriously, “We have to make preparations. The Godddess of Darkness is approaching the house and is sent on taking it over as our master has departed. We need to find a way to trap her before anything else happens!”

Nyx knew her son would not make up lies or anything false. She trusted her son and used her powers to reorganize the house. She made sure the shades were not present in the house and searching for others to help with preparing the house.

“Achilles, Dusa, Megaera” Nyx called as she summoned all three to her side and prepared to give her orders to them.

Dusa is a green, floating gargon head. She has the emblem of the house tied in her main, strands of green hair. Her black eyes holding a usual nervous light to it. She still had her feather duster being held by one of her snakes, wondering what she was summoned for.

Luckily, Dusa didn’t have to worry since her best friend and sister figure, Megaera was standing behind her while placing a hand on her head to give her some comfort. She has pale, blue hair tied in a tall ponytail while wearing a blue, tunic with golden armor with some spikes. She has a pair of wings that are as sharp as a bat’s. She has pink lipstick and sharp brown eyes. Besides Dusa wondering why she was summoned; Megaera was also wondering why she was here.

Achilles only bowed his head as he waited for his orders. He has muscles with blond, flowing hair and brilliant green eyes. He has a pair of tough gloves with sandals as he wore a green tunic with a pin of the house on it. Despite being a famous warrior, he knows bond to the house as a trainer to the prince.

“What can we do to serve you, Goddess of the Night?” Achilles asked as he bowed to her in a respectful manner.

Nyx informed them, “The Goddess of Darkness is approaching the House. She may be here to claim the throne for herself once again. We must not allow such a fate to pass. I need you to prepare for this eventual clash. Do you understand me?”

Dusa let out a yelp, Achilles raised his head, and Megaera only nodded her head in understanding. All three went off in different directions, but Nyx stopped Dusa from fleeing the scene too soon.

“Dusa, I have another task for you. This is something important as well. You mustn’t fail here” Nyx spoke seriously to the gorgon who was shaking anxiously at the Goddess of the Night, “I need you to gather this book and flee to our queen’s cottage”

The gorgon was stunned by this order before protesting to the best of her abilities, “B-but I can’t leave you and the others! Y-you are my f-family! W-why even pick me?! M-meg would be better suited for this task too! I-I want to be useful here!”

Nyx shook her head at the little gorgon to express her concerns, “You are not known well. Our names are used among the humans and gods. We will be seen if we step out of line. Thus, we must play the parts we are assigned. Do you understand, Dusa? I have doubt that the task I give you can be accomplished by anyone with such speed and strength compared to you. However, everyone will need to be present here”

Hearing the Goddess of the Night’s words, Dusa only nodded her head. Nyx conjured a piece of paper with the image of the book. She gave it to Dusa who went to carry out her task without complaint, willing to do everything she can to help those she loved.

Thanatos watched the exchange and wondered what his mother was planning. He knew her powers and wisdom are beyond anything he hoped to make sense of. He wished Moros was present, but he has been off carrying on his duties.

“Do not fear anything, my child” Nyx said in a comforting voice as she looked at her son with a soft expression, “Everything will work out as intended to. I may not have the powers to see into the future, but I know that everything will be fine. I do have an important task for you as well, my son. Though, if you wished to decline it, that will be fine. I do believe it might be helpful”

Thanatos stood at attention to answer without hesitation, “Of course, mother! What would you have me do?”

She whispered to him something that made him jump in horror and disbelief at her request. She knew that would be his reaction and didn’t push on the matter, only waiting to hear his answer and reaction.

He gripped his scythe to plead desperately with his mother, “Could you not have asked for help from Nemesis or Moros? I am sure they could do something! Charon is present, correct? I know he could take his boat and get help! Why are you not summoning them?”

“It is not their time, my child” Nyx answered in a simple tone, “They’re stories and adventures are yet to be written and told. No, they are not supposed to be here yet. It will take some time, but I know they will come here eventually. Now, this is our part in the tale. We must do everything we can to ensure it happens. Do you understand, my child?”

Thanatos only nodded his head. He knew better than to argue with his mother. His grip on his scythe intensified as he dared not face her.

Nyx hovered her hand over his cheek to speak in a concerned tone, “Do you not carry out the task I have given you. It may be too much for you in the end. I would not want to cause you grief anymore that I will”

Thanatos shook his head to reply strongly, “No, if you believe this to be the best course of action then I will carry it out. I will ensure that your methods will be carried out and we will win this”

Nyx could only smile at her son, delighted and relieved to have one that would listen to her. She motioned him to leave as she saw Dusa return with the book in her possession. Nyx was relieved to see it and cast her powers to teleport Dusa out of the house. With that, their plans were finalized. All they needed to do is wait for Zagreus and the Goddess of Darkness to arrive.

There was a loud crash and thud echoing around her as she searched for the source of it. She heard a yell and clash of weapons to find a blur of blue and purple in the ceiling! She was stunned to see a fight break out and gazed at it intently. Her eyes were wide to find Meg clashing with Pandora!

“Megaera! Are you ok?” Nyx asked with concern as she turned her focus to her.

Pandora transformed into a burst of flames to reveal her true form to them! She let out a wicked laugh to then striking an on-guard Meg into the pool of blood! Pandora floated to land in front of Nyx with a grin.

“Oh, so sorry about that ma’am. However, orders are orders. I am sure you know that better than others” Pandora commented before tapping the side of her cheek in a knowing tone, “Well, I suppose not. You did go against the lord of the house. I suppose you do not understand that in the end!”

Pandora only grinned before running a hand through her blue hair as she laughed. Meg groaned before raising her head from the pool of blood to glare at Pandora. She was not going to let this annoying sorceress win this fight so easily! Cracking her whip, Meg swung it to wrap around Pandora’s ankles to then throw her into the pool of blood with so much force while flying upward!

“Stay dead” Meg growled as she hovered in the air with her whip in her hands while sending a chilling glare to Pandora.

Nyx didn’t expect that and was grateful that they had a house contractor to repair the damages done to the house. She looked around and had a chilling thought as she realized Pandora was here which meant something must’ve befallen Cerberus!

“That would be correct, Goddess of the Night” the Goddess of Darkness announced as she stepped through the cracks done by the recent clash, “The precious guard dog of the Underworld is turned to stone and is serving as a wonderful decoration for my kingdom. Though, I suppose I should bring in my precious guard dog to guard this place”

Nyx steeled herself as she glared at the Goddess of Darkness and looked over her shoulder to see Cerberus turned to stone! It was as Nyx predicated as she realized that her other predictions will also come true. She wondered where Achilles was only to find him frozen in a statue besides Patroclus’ petrified form!

“On the way to the house, we had to traverse through aa few familiar places to arrive. I thought it would be best to pay a visit to those who cared for the house as well and give them each a reward for their pathetic loyalty to it” Medusa informed with a callous tone as she gathered her magic to display a vision of petrified Orpheus, Eurydice, and Sisyphus!

Nyx hands were clenched as she looked at their petrified states and cast a wave of magic to strike Medusa who only created a barrier for her protection. The two goddesses clashed their respective magics against each other.

Pandora and Meg were locked in a tense combat as Thanatos watched from below. He spun his scythe and waited for the right moment to strike. Pandora swung her blade to strike against Meg’s whip to throw her away from her. Pandora’s blade to burn with flames to wave it towards a distraught Meg. Thanatos teleported in front of her with his scythe in front of him to cut the flame in half before swinging his blade downward.

“Oh, death approaches” Pandora commented, “I recalled your mind-controlled state when you worked with us. You had a sense of humor and listened without any question. Now, you question everything!”

Meg recovered to raise a brow and remarked, “You worked with her? You had a sense of humor too?”

Thanatos glared to answer, “It was when the other Hades took control of the House. He cast a spell on those who resisted him as he tried to dethrone Olympus and exterminate the humans. I was put under his control and forced to do his bidding. I would not want to mention this to Zagreus and the others. We need to stop her at least”

“Your mother has a plan, doesn’t she?” Meg noticed as she saw the Goddess of Darkness clash against the Goddess of Night, “I saw Dusa flee from the house. I have no idea where my sisters are either. I didn’t see your siblings appear at all. So, what is the plan? Give Zagreus enough time to counter her”

Thanatos shook his head as he eyed the pool of blood as the entrance to the house. Meg only shook her head as she cracked her whip when both noticed Pandora charging towards them.

“It appears that bond you share with Zagreus must be strong enough to pull off whatever plan your mother has!” Meg commented as she grabbed Thanatos to throw behind her with her flying towards Pandora with her whip.

She swung her whip to cut through the flames and spin it again to deliver a powerful strike downward to smack Pandora to the ground! Pandora cried out in pain as she turned around to see Thanatos recovering and the fight between Nyx and Medusa. She flew to protect the Goddess of Night from another magic that Medusa cast by spinning her whip to block it.

“Oh? A Fury defending the night so protectively? Reminds me of an angel defending that goddess!” Medusa growled as she waved her staff to unleash a few magical beams to strike the ground and near them!

Nyx created her barrier as Meg flew away from it only for one beam to strike her down! She grunted in pain and frustration at this only to find herself staring at Medusa’s golden eyes with a chill running down her spine. In a flash, she found herself growing cold and unable to move as she became a statue.

“Megaera” Thanatos whispered in a stunned manner as he could not believe the Fury to be turned to stone so easily by Medusa.

He then noticed his mother was caught off guard by Meg’s defeat and wasn’t aware that Medusa still had her eyes glowing a deep, gold color.

“Do you understand your situation now, Goddess of the Night?” the Goddess of Darkness declared as she used her magic to distract Nyx, “I will return to my rightful place as queen of the Underworld! I shall be vanquished for my hatred and desire for revenge will be greater than any seal placed upon me! Now, be petrified and turn to stone to fall in place on the board I’ve made!”

“Mother!” Thanatos shouted as he turned to see his mother hold herself against the darkness only to find herself face-to-face with the Goddess of Darkness’s golden eyes.

Taking a surprised breath in, Nyx found herself turning to stone with her body growing heavy. She sighed and accepted her fate for now as she held herself against the Goddess of Darkness. Despite falling here, the Goddess of the Night held a defiant expression until she was petrified!

“Well, at least you could stand against the odds. I wonder how long that will last for you” Medusa commented as she then turned to the last person in the house to stand in her way, “Ah, Thanatos. I remember you being a loyal minion of mine even if I had to change your form, tone, and hide your memories to do my bidding. Would you like that task again without everything I’ve done to you? I promise to spare your siblings from my path of vengeance”

She offered her hand to Thanatos who only replied by holding his scythe in front of himself in a protective manner with his eyes glaring at the Goddess of Darkness. Keeping his guard up, he made sure to hover before the pool of blood to the entrance to the house. Everything was coming true, just as his mother predicted. He could hear the bubbles forming around the pool with a grumbling voice to match.

“Know this Goddess of Darkness” Thanatos declared despite his impending doom and also wondering if this is how humans felt before their end, “When you struck us down, you incurred the wrath of the God of Blood who is the Prince of the Underworld and the House of Hades. You will not escape the fate you bestowed upon yourself!”

This only angered the Goddess of Darkness who lunged with her scepter and glowing, golden eyes. Thanatos prepared himself just as Zagreus groaned when he rose out of the pool of blood, still not finding the experience of dying pleasant. Waving the blood out of his hair, Zagreus blinked a couple of times to gathering his surroundings to then being alert when he saw the state of the house!

“What the hell?” Zagreus commented as he rushed into the house and stopped when he saw Thanatos facing the Goddess of Darkness alone, “Than! Get away from her! Let me face her!”

Feeling utter relief at hearing Zagreus’s voice, Thanatos had no fear and could completely trust his mother and his partner to handle everything. He lowered his scythe in a form of surrender to then standing against the Goddess of Darkness before swiftly turning around to toss Zagreus Mort and a wave of darkness!

“Than! Nyx!” Zagreus shouted as he struggled to reach out to his partner, close to grabbing his hand.

The God of Death only smiled, hoping to keep everything calm for Zagreus while also wanting the last thing Zagreus ever saw of him for a while to be a happy expression.

“Fear not, Zagreus. I know you’re going to save us. That I have no fear of” Thanatos reassured in a calm tone, “Please don’t take too long nor die so much. I know you and I will lose a part of each other for a time, but that separation will only be temporary. Please keep our parts with you”

Snapping his fingers, the darkness that wrapped around Zagreus to pull him out of the House!

Zagreus let out a yell from the gut with anguish and rage, “No! Not the house! Cerberus! Nyx! Achilles! Meg! THANATOS! EVERYONE!”

Despite seeing the darkness clouding his vision, Zagreus could see Thanatos and the crumbling house under Medusa’s rule. At that moment, the prince of the Underworld made a vow to return to the house one day. He would get his revenge on the Goddess of Darkness and save everyone, especially his family! Nothing would keep him from returning home and delivering justice to the Goddess of Darkness.

“Medusa, here my words” Zagreus vowed before falling and losing consciousness, “You’ve made the worst enemy of the house. I will take my sword and ensure it strikes you down where you stand. I will not let you get away with harming those I cherish and consider my family! I will return and ensure our justice and revenge is delivered to you! Not for me, but for everyone else!”

Chapter 4: Preparing the Skies

Summary:

You know what? I am happy that Hades 2 won something at least. It deserved something! I am salty that Mario Kart World won, but you know what? Not a bad turn out compared to a few years ago. It wasn’t a full sweep, but it was an interesting event! Enjoy!

Chapter Text

“Do you think Zagreus and Thanatos can handle the House of Hades?” Pit asked Lady Palutena while flying through the skies.

This surprised the Goddess of Light who answered in his thoughts using her powers to communicate with him, “Oh, I am sure my nephew is fine. I am surprised to see Thanatos restored to normal though and in such a relationship”

She was residing in their home on Skyworld and giving information to the angel while doing her best to communicate with the gods and others. Pit tilted his head in confusion with Lady Palutena only laughing at his cluelessness until he realized something about the party. Pittoo never showed up.

“Hey, Lady Palutena, do you know where Pittoo is? I know he was with Viridi, but I didn’t see him there. Do you think he got lost or something?” Pit asked curiously as he continued to let the goddess carry him through the skies.

She used her “all seeing eyes” to locate his brother. As much as Pit and Pittoo struggle and fight with each other, she knew Pit was so happy to have another angel like him and like a brother. It did warm her heart to have the two of them have each other.

“I am sure we can find him a little later” Lady Paluetna reassured her angel, “Right now, I do want to look at the prison where Medusa was locked in. I want to know how she escaped or if she had help”

Guiding Pit through the clouds, the angel examined the area with a bird’s eye view to see if anything was out of the ordinary. So far, he couldn’t see anything nor hear trouble occurring below. He was relieved by this as was Lady Palutena.

“We are coming up on one of the Underworld’s Prisons” she informed Pit before letting out a gasp, “What happened?!”

Right before their eyes was a destroyed prison. It was different from regular destruction. This was total devastation. Nothing was alive. Everything was wiped off from the area. No guards remained. Nothing was there.

“Lady Palutena, what happened here?” Pit asked in a quiet tone filled with fear as he was observing the area from above.

She didn’t know. She had never seen such a power like this before. This was something dark, ancient, and not known. No, that was not it. This is something ancient, lost to time, or should be lost to time.

“Lady Palutena, are you ok?” Pit asked as he felt a chill and noticed she did not reply to him, worrying him.

Before she could reassure him, she felt a strange wave of magic heading towards Pit!

“Pit! Look out!” Lady Palutena exclaimed as she pulled her angel away from an incoming, emerald sphere of magic!

“Woah! Who is that?! What is happening?!” Pit exclaimed as he was tossed in the air and thrown around.

He couldn’t see anything as everything was a blur to him! He couldn’t make out anything except for a black, green, and orange blur that was desperately coming towards him at such a quick pace! He swung his Guardian Orbitars to protect himself as the blur struck the shields!

Pit was finally able to get a good look of the attacker and noticed something oddly familiar. First off, he was being attacked by a lady. She is wearing a black cloak and a black, western hat that reminded him of that annoying assist trophy, Dillon. She has dark skin and glowing, green eyes. She has a red top and skirt with silver charms tied with green ribbons. She has silver gauntlets and is currently holding a sickle and blade in her hands.

“H-hey! I am not the enemy here!” Pit said as he twirled himself to not appear upside down, “I only came here to see the area and figure out what happened! Promise! Honest!”

He hoped that would be enough to reason with her, but he couldn’t tell with her glowing glare towards him. He gulped as he noticed her hands were glowing a green light! He prepared his Orbitars to protect him only for Lady Palutena to interfere.

“Hold it, Hecate! We are not your enemies!” the Goddess of Light spoke directly to the Goddess of Witchcraft, “We are only here to understand what has happened to the prison. We do not wish to fight you”

The Goddess of Light hoped to reason with the Goddess of Witchcraft, hoping to avoid an unnecessary clash.

“Did the lord of the house send you then?” Hecate asked as she lowered her hat and ceased her spells.

Pit tilted his head to the side curiously before resting his face on his fist to think about that.

“Hades? What would my brother want with this place? Well, I suppose this is his prison, but he didn’t do a very good job with maintaining the prisoner” Lady Palutena observed while tapping the side of her face, “Is he planning something with this place, Hecate?”

As Pit was lost in his thoughts, Hecate cast her spells to unleash a wave towards him only for the angel to jump and duck to then summon his bow.

“Uh, Lady Palutena, I don’t think she’s in the mood to talk anymore” Pit said in a whimper as she saw the Goddess of Witchcraft brandishing her scythe and dagger dagger against the crowd.

With an annoyed sigh, Lady Palutena remarked, “Then, we will not go down without a fight either! Show her what you’re made of Pit!”

The battle commenced with Pit running to the other side of the ruined field to avoid the wave of green magic from her! He drew his bow and took aim to release a few arrows that she easily struck down with her scythe!

“Wow, I’ve fought a lot of gods and enemies over the years, but I don’t think I’ve fought against someone using magic like this!” Pit commented as he stood still to charge up an arrow to fire at her only for the witch herself to cast an orange sphere of fire at him!

He let out a yell and ducked his head to avoid the approaching spell by covering his head with his hands. He sighed as he turned his head to see the sphere crash into the ruined ground to disappear before picking himself to then refocus on the fight.

Lady Palutena informed him, “Yes, the Goddess of Witchcraft is quite the powerful witch. Though, much of her past is hidden from us”

“Why do you think that is, Goddess of Light?” Hecate replied with annoyance in her voice, “You claim to have knowledge on everything and the all seeing eye as well. You and Athena have a run for that!”

Pit felt dread when the goddess he served commented in a dark tone, “Ah, but who is busy trying to keep between the humans and gods? I think my role is very busy to the point where I do not constantly throw myself into studies of magic and the dark arts as well as trying to keep up good relationships with others!”

The angel decided it would be best for him to not speak a single word and only focus on the fight. He did notice how Hecate seemed to fare well against long range attacks and decided to get up close and personal! Breaking the golden bow into a pair of fine daggers to swipe at the Goddess of Witchcraft! Hecate noticed Pit’s change in strategy and cast her spells to keep him away from her.

“Ah, I see you’ve noticed her pattern of fighting as well” Palutena commented before imparting her knowledge onto her angel, “Hecate’s spells are powerful. Her hexes can do damage. She excels at keeping her distance from her foes to deliver her curses and chants onto others”

Hecate interrupted, “I believe that is enough. If your angel is to grow into the fine soldier you claim to have, then he must learn to fight on his own!”

Snapping her fingers, she disrupted the telepathic conversation Pit and Lady Palutena were having and waved her hand to have orange flames burst from the ground! Pit let out a scream as he jumped to avoid it and pulled back! He couldn’t hear Lady Palutena’s voice and groaned.

“Seriously?! Do you have to be mean?!” Pit complained as he avoided a beam of green magic to then draw his bow to release an arrow at her.

Hecate rolled her eyes to remark, “You are the General of her army, correct? Then you should be able to stand without the Goddess of Light! There were times where you were not with her and could fight! Use those skills again! I am fighting you, not her!”

Gathering a tremendous amount of magic to the tip of her staff, she waved the staff upward to blast a powerful beam of magic at the angel! He knew he had no chance of blocking nor deflecting her spells, so he dove to the dirt ground to cover and protect himself with his Guardian Orbitar on top of him!

Once the spell was finished, Pit picked himself up and prepared another strategy that was sure to work, recalling Lady Palutena’s words. He charged at the Goddess of Witchcraft while breaking his bow into blades to charge at her. She countered by casting her sphere of green and orange to strike the angel who only continued to charge at her while swinging his blades to either avoid the spells or cut it down.

Noticing his change in tactics, she prepared to conjure a barrier to protect herself as the angel jumped and raised his blades to slam on the forming barrier. He continuously slammed his daggers to create a crack! Hecate was surprised to see this as Pit let out a yell while raising both blades to deliver a fatal strike to shatter it!

“Gnh!” Hecate grunted as she didn’t have time to counter.

The angel took his chance to combine the blades into the bow to slam the tip of it to strike Hecate’s right arm! She grunted in pain before using her left arm to cast a powerful spell to grab the angel and hover him in the air!

“H-hey! Let me go!” Pit exclaimed only for Hecate to ignore his cries and focus on Lady Palutena.

“I must confess, Goddess of Light” Hecate proclaimed, “You trained a good soldier. I can tell you were only here to survey the area in question, seeing as you did not deliver any fatal blows to me. Very well, I shall answer you questions”

She waved her hands to remove the spells blocking the telepathy between angel and the Goddess of Light.

“Goddess of Witchcraft! Hecate! Is Pit ok?! What were you thinking?!” Lady Palutena remarked with worry until she saw Pit again, “Oh, thank goodness you’re ok! I was so worried! Honestly, Hecate’s magic is stronger than I remember, but it is good to see you are in one piece and able to hold yourself against her!”

“Truth be told, he did well against me, Goddess of Light” Hecate acquiesced before her tone became serious, “Now, if the lord of the house did not send you, then why are you here? I will answer your questions as well”

Pit sighed in relief before holding a grin as Lady Palutena was the one to do the talking.

“This is where the Soul of Medusa resided along with her body, correct?” Lady Palutena asked first to confirm her suspicions, “Do you know what happened to the land? I am sure your lady of the house would not be pleased by the damages done to it”

“You are correct, Goddess of Light. This was a mighty prison that held the strongest, most dangerous of foes. The Soul and body of Medusa was kept here and locked in separate chambers to ensure that the Goddess of Darkness would not return. However, even I do not know what force came about this area, but I have an inkling of it”

Pit was excited as he flapped his wings and asked, “You do?! So we might have a chance to catch the foe behind this?!”

The Goddess of Witchcraft remained silent to then admit, “I doubt you will be able to catch this being, but I will tell you this. Time was used here”

Pit was confused while Lady Palutena felt her heart stop at the mention of time. She tried her best to calm herself and appear graceful. Though she was not sure how long she could remain in such a manner as she wondered how her siblings would react to such news unless Hades was aware of this already.

“It would be wise to not think so much on the matter, Goddess of Light” Hecate informed her seriously, “Everything will come together soon enough just as fate dictates it. For now, you and your angel should only focus on capturing the Goddess of Darkness and returning her to the lord of the house for another proper place to seal her”

“Sure, but how are we supposed to do that?” Pit recalled unsure with his face resting on his chin, “I’ve always just defeated her, and she disappears in darkness. How do we go about separating her soul from her body?”

Hecate suggested,  “While I do not believe the Goddess of Light to be lacking in powers, I am sure she would not mind the extra help from her brother who is my lord. He and his lady might be able to provide something for you”

“Really? You do not think Hades would’ve returned to his realm by now? Wow, I do not think I will be used to saying his name in a positive light, but Zagreus is tough! I am sure they are back at home!” Pit spoke with confidence as Lady Palutena was filled with worry.

She disagreed and pulled Pit away from Hecate, “No, I think something else must’ve transpired. Come on, Pit! We need to return to Olympus and work with them to stop Medusa!”

“O-oh, ok! Whatever you say, Lady Palutena! Let’s go!” Pit said with confidence as he went with her to find a way to stop the Goddess of Darkness.

Hecate was relieved that the Goddess of Light was able to understand her task. The Goddess of Witchcraft returned to her task and searched the area to better understand the powers of time and find a proper way to counter it.

Chapter 5: Not the Best of Reunions

Summary:

I did it! I beat the main story of Hades 2! Of course, there is the post game, but I feel like Hades 2 will take much longer than the DLC for Pokemon ZA, so I will be focusing on that for now. I do wonder what else is left in Hades 2, but it was a fantastic game and a wonderful sequel! Enjoy!

Chapter Text

“Wow! It doesn’t feel like it has been long since we were last here!” Pit exclaimed in delight to be back on Olympus, “Hey, where is everyone?”

He was surprised to find Olympus empty with no gods roaming or lounging about in the Kingdom of the Gods.

“That is because I’ve sent them off to help some of the humans and find the Goddess of Darkness!” Zeus’s voice boomed as he appeared in a bolt of lightning, “Ah, I was expecting you, but where is my sister? Could she not have come by to see me and her other siblings?”

A pair of golden doors appeared from a heavenly light that Lady Palutena walked through to shake her head at Zeus’s antics before he let out a laugh to greet her again. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders to give her a hug as Hades’ tired form approached them, surprising both Lady Palutena and Pit.

“Wait, why are you still here, Hades? I thought you would’ve returned to your realm by now!” Pit shouted in a surprised manner until he realized, “Hey, where is Lady Persephone? I thought she would be by your side”

Hades only groaned with Zeus letting out a hearty laugh. Lady Palutena was curious about the reason for her sister-in-law’s disappearance, but she wondered if there was a specific reason for this.

She decided to ask another question instead, “Is she faring well?”

“You have nothing to worry about” Hades said in a tired tone, “She is resting and in the care of Hera and Demeter. I suspect that she will be there for a while, but I do not have any worries because she is in good hands. As for the reason I have not returned to my realm, Zagreus and Thanatos have not returned to reassure us that it is safe to be in my realm. For now and at the request of my wife, we will wait here until they’ve returned”

As if on command, a screaming Zagreus fell from the skies and crashed onto Olympus with a groan filled with exhaustion and rage. He could not believe what he witnessed at the house.

“Zagreus!” Pit greeted as he ran to help the Prince of the Underworld sit up, “Hey, are you ok? Is the Underworld ok? What happened?”

The God of Blood was still in a state of shock, doing his best to recover. Once he did, he explained everything that occurred in the house.

“I should’ve arrived there soon, but it took such a long time. I don’t know why” Zagreus said in frustration before slamming his fist onto the floor, “Now, they’ve turned to stone! There’s no way to help them! How are we supposed to take back the house and save them?!”

Pit placed a hand on Zagreus’s shoulders with Hades remaining silent and still, making the angel wonder if that was a good sign. Zeus and Palutena each grabbed a shoulder of their oldest brother and patted it before Hades let out a frustrated sigh.

“Boy, this is not your fault” Hades spoke first to address and relieve his son of his worries, “From what I hear, time was against you. That is not of your domain. I know you would’ve done something to save those in the house. We know the state of the house along with the state of everyone else. We can create a plan off of that”

Zagreus couldn’t believe his father listened to him, but he was puzzled by how time was working against them. Palutena also wondered about time working against them, but she recalled Hecate’s words. She spared a glance to her oldest brother who remained in his thoughts and decided it would be best to not bring up Hecate.

As if to prove that their personal theories of time working against them, Dusa let out a yell as she teleported from the top of Olympus to fall!

“Dusa! Pit, I am going to throw you! Please help my dear friend for life!” Zagreus said urgently as he didn’t waste any time to grab Pit’s arm.

“Wait, what?” Pit asked bewildered until he was screaming!

Zagreus ran and spun the angel before throwing him towards the falling Dusa! Pit let out a wail before focusing on the falling gorgon. He flapped his wings a couple of times to then grab her head to fall! He flipped himself over to gently glide back down and land on the floors of Olympus before releasing Dusa.

“Ow! That is something I never want to do again” Dusa complained until she refocused and gasped when she saw the prince and lord of the house, “My lord Hades! Prince Zagreus! You’re ok! What a relief!”

“Dusa!” Zagreus said in relief as he gave her a hug, “I am so relieved you’re ok. Do not worry, we will do everything we can to save the house. Hang on, how did you get here? To my knowledge, you do not have magic”

“You would be correct. It was Lady Nyx who used her powers to make sure I escaped. It felt longer than normal, but I am here! I also took this book that she gave me! I do not know what it is for, but she said it would be important” Dusa explained before showing the book to them.

Zagreus took the book from Dusa to read it with a confused expression. Hades rolled his eyes with Palutena using her abilities to take the book from the prince to read herself. Zeus and Hades looked over her shoulders to read it as Pit, Zagreus, and Dusa remained there.

“Wish I learned magic” Zagreus commented in defeat.

Pit added with a grin, “Sure, but it is hard to control and mainly females or those who use she/her pronouns are the only ones who can use it. I believe that is because of the Goddess of the Moon and Night. I think. I really don’t know”

“To be honest, both of you could not handle magic from the track record I’ve heard about from Meg” Dusa joked as both groaned and lowered their heads in shame.

Zeus and Palutena only laughed with Hades rolling his eyes. He nudged his sister to hurry up with reading one of Nyx’s spell books.

“I am almost done!” Palutena reassured him with a snicker, “It appears that Nyx was quick with her thinking once she realized she would be going against the Goddess of Darkness. She sent her spell book of cures away with the gorgon!”

Zagreus and Pit embraced Dusa who was flustered and blushing madly at their praises and compliments.

“However, potions and cures are not my speciality, but I do know someone who can help with this” Lady Palutena addressed to the trio, “Viridi is better at this than me. I’ll open a door for you to walk through and meet with her. From there, you should be able to make a plan with her that should stop the Goddess of Darkness”

With a snap of her fingers, she conjured a pair of wooden doors for them to walk through. Zagreus took the book and ran to push the doors open with Pit and Dusa following him. The trio left with the wooden doors closing and disappearing in a bundle of leaves to then blow away in the wind.

Palutena sighed before turning to Hades with her staff in hand to point at her brother. Zeus stood between them, trying to reason with each other to not have a fight break out.

“Do not worry, I will not fight with him, but I do demand my questions to be answered” Palutena said seriously, “Why was Hecate there? What is happening with the flow of time? None of you can deny that time is growing unstable. So, please give me an answer to this, or I will use force”

Zeus knew their sister was smart and more aware despite her mischievous nature and being their youngest sister. Regardless, they should have known that she would figure out something was not right with time.

“I’ve found a prophecy” Hades spoke in a simple manner, “Time is fluctuating because of an approaching force of time. I would rather deal with it myself for it proclaims that one of my offspring will be the one to slew time”

Palutena looked at the place where the doors once stood and thought of his son, wondering if it was a good idea for her to send him off with her captain and his dear friend for life. Hades shook his head as he turned to the hallway where his wife resided in at the moment.

“I think you made the best choice, sister” Hades said with a nod of his head, “You were always the wisest of us, even if you are the youngest. I don’t doubt that my son will find a way to save the house along with your angel. So, we should put our faith in them. Most of all, we should put our faith in Nyx and her quick thinking”

Zeus only laughed at his oldest brother’s remark with Palutena joining in. It has been some time that they could share such a moment of joy. They were always on each other’s nerves and trying to do what they believed was best. It was nice to have a laugh together and not be at each other’s throats.

“Hey! Father! Uncle! Aunt! There is trouble!” Hermes, the Messenger of the Gods, reported to them in an exhausted, beat up form!

Palutena rushed to heal him only to gasp when she saw him turning to stone! He appeared to be tired but grateful that he made it. He was able to deliver his message to them.

“Sorry, but it appears this is it for me and the rest of us. We made sure she didn't find this place, but got the message out to you” Hermes quickly finished before closing his eyes and turning to stone!

This deeply worried the three as they had no choice but to put their faith in Pit and Zagreus, hoping that they would not be distracted and find the solution they would need to stop Medusa.
