Tick Tick Tick...
Tick Tick Tick...
Tick Tick Click!
"Let's see..." Candi said as they opened up their computer to check their inbox.
"Weekly work update, another spam email, the same old usual."
Candi sat up and raised both their hands in the air to stretch. They turn to stretch, hearing a crescendo of cracking as a result of the stiff position they were sitting in. Friday was always the emptiest the office ever gets. In a way they enjoy the peaceful silence without having any eyes on them, but sometimes it gets daunting with having the clock being the only company in the entire floor. Often feeling out of place in such a setting, Candi lets their mind wander.
"Is this truly what I'll be doing for the rest of my life?"
...
"Ugh, what am I saying? I'm lucky to even be here and to have this opportunity!"
They slouch back into their seat. The chair gaining a slight impression as begin they settle down. Once again, they open up their emails tab. Nothing. They decide that with the copious amounts of free-time they have, they might as well be going through and deleting some spam and junk mail. One by one they delete each unassuming piece of mail until they delete something that caught their eye. Immediately they became acutely aware of a mistake they did.
"UNDO, UNDO!"
And there it was...
Admission Status Update, Blueberry Academy
For several minutes, they stared at the screen---too afraid to even touch the email. Tentatively, they click on it. Candi was always good at keeping their composure and avoiding panic. Even though if inside they're truly a Camerupt about to erupt. They clicked onto the admission portal, and the loading screen felt like it took forever to load. Each moment spent waiting, a new bead of sweat seemed to form on their forehead. Then it loaded.
View Status...
"Rejection. Rejection. Rejection." They repeated as some sort of mantra to keep themself from getting their hopes too high.
They were then greeted with a screen full of confetti.
"W-what!?"
Only a couple words on the screen appeared to be glowing for them.
Congratulations!.. great pleasure... admission to Blueberry Academy...selected from largest applicant pool...prepares you for your future as a trainer...
"I... I got in..." they jump out of their seat. "I GOT IN! I GOT IN!!" they declare to the empty void. They shake from the sheer excitement. After a couple of deep breathes, they began to calm down as the silence of the office settles back in with the clock on the wall returning with the same old ticking sound.
"I got in..." they whisper one final time before getting back to working on assignments.
They settle back into their seat, still trembling from the sheer excitement as a huge smile is plastered onto their face. Looking back at the email:
"Your next step is the formal acceptance of our admission offer... due... TODAY!?"
Their heart began to race as they frantically move the mouse to click onto whatever link to send their acceptance.
"How could I have not seen this before?? Why did it get sent to spam??? Ugh I should've checked earlier!"
After frantically going through different pages for their transcripts and other materials, once it was all confirmed that they sent the necessary materials to confirm their acceptance, they fell back into their chair and had an ephemeral moment of relaxation. Then realization began to settle in.
"How in the world would I explain this to my parents? Tuition is probably expensive as Weepinbell! There's no way I can..."
Email: You have been awarded a full-ride scholarship at Blueberry Academy!
"Well I'll be..."
Throughout the entire workday, Candi's persona was bubbly and filled with optimism as a flurry of emotions overwhelm their ability to contain themselves to the usual monotone expression they held. Even on their walk home they begin to skip as they travel through the city streets and back to Noctilulu Town. The Pidoves's chirps and wing flaps are heard from above as some Patrats scurry across the roads. At times they began to run around, enjoying how the sun hits their face and warms her skin. They decide to take a detour and go to Aspertia city's lookout. They make sure to go to it only on special days like these so the view doesn't get less impactful each time they visit. But then again, who could get tired of the wind blowing through their face as they observe the beautiful view of the forest where all Pokémon thrive in.
"I... I want to be a Pokémon trainer," they whisper on the outlook. "IM GOING TO BECOME A POKÉMON TRAINER!!" They yell using up all their breath in their chest to make it clear that no matter what, they'll become a real Pokémon trainer.
----- Info -----
Noctilulu Town
A town approximately 55 minutes (walking) NorthWest from Aspertia City.
Its pretty unknown part from the rest of Unova due to it often being forgotten in maps.
The few people aware of its existence tend to visit for the beautiful night skies or to evolve certain Pokémon.
It is the town where Candi grew up in.
WN: The name of the town comes from Noctilucent clouds to coincide with the theme that Unovan towns are named after different types of clouds. ALTHOUGH geographically they are on more Northern/Southern ends so you'd typically see them if you were in Europe or Canada, I simply chose the name cause it just sounded cool. It also helps give it a more remote area kinda away from big city and commotion with it already being close to a hilly/mountainish city like Aspertia.
Candi's Office Job
Candi's high grades managed to get a spring-summer internship in Aspertia City and help them out with advertisements and event planning. However, there hasn't been much going on during the time they have been working the internship so there'll be days where they are so bored out of their mind due to lack of assignments to do. Either way, they have to work and walk this long so that they can save enough money to possibly move out in the future. They do like the people, they just feel like their about to go insane hearing only the clock ticking over and over again.
