Chapter Text
Fern was laying in the grass under the stars, reading up about lost legends occasionally muttering out loud to himself. As he flipped through the pages he found a most interesting story, a legend of a princess cursed to an eternal slumber deep within a forest that only bugs, animals, and nature elementals can find. On the back of the page was a map to wear the forest was, Ferns interest was piqued. Maybe he could be the savior of the Princess!
He set off to to find the mysterious forest.

He moved some vegetation out of the way of his path, until, he saw it. Leaves acted as a curtain hanging from a wooden arch way, a light glow came from beyond it. This must be... Fern thought to himself as he stepped passed the leaf curtain.
There she was, laying on a raised flower bed, was Princess Petals. Butterflies and other members of nature stood around waiting for her to awaken. Fern walked closer to the princess, her hair made of pink petals, she looks unbothered in her state of sleep. Fern took out his book, he flipped through the pages looking for the right page, but his search came up empty.
He sat on the ground up against the side of her flower bed, he sighed in annoyance that he couldn't do anything. Couldn't be a hero to anyone, not even himself. His fingers dug into the soil beneath him.
He soon felt something cold and metallic under his finger tips, his eyes widened. He quickly dug up whatever he felt, the woodland beings spoke amongst themselves wondering what on earth he was doing, but soon he pulled out a golden metal sheet of paper, written on it was some wizard language he had read before. He read the words aloud, it meant something about a heroic knight being there...he didn't understand much of the rest of it, his hand rested near hers, his finger tips touched hers ever so slightly....Fern felt a slight shock at the contact, he pulled his hand away and glanced at her, her eyes fluttered open Princess Petals sat up quickly, she stared at Fern confused as to who he was. Ferns mouth was open slightly, he was confused about what had happened.
"A-ah... Hello miss Princess Petals..? I'm F-Fern.." He was having a hard time getting his words out, he was just so confused...
"...You must be the mighty knight!" Princess Petals eyes lit up, "Fern...thank you for saving me from this curse that some evil wizard put me under." She stood up, Fern smiled nervously. Princess Petals giggles at his expression "As my thanks to you Fern.." She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, Fern froze, he blushed like crazy at the kiss, "U-Uh.. youre welcome..." He scratched the back of his neck, laughing nervously, "Well farewell great knight Fern, I wish you well!" She smiled at him before he left.

During his journey home he just couldnt stop thinking about how she thanked him, it seemed like something only Finn would experience... not someone like Fern.
