Summary
For the past 2+ yrs Stiles and the Hunters have been thorns in each other's sides. Worse, his best friend not only ditches him for the leader’s granddaughter, he betrays him as well. One night Stiles is abducted and forced across the Boundary and into the forbidden lands from which it’s said that no one returns.
Ever since the attack by his secret human girlfriend killed 3 family members and the emissary that saved the rest of his pack, werewolf Derek has lived in a semi-feral state. Consumed by guilt, grief, and anger, kept on edge by his uncle’s constant goading, he spends most of his time as a wolf and away from his pack. Even in human form he’s more wolf than man; fangs and claws extended, eyes often glowing, and unable to speak. Worse, a few months ago he was forced to become an Alpha and now has 3 newly bitten betas that he doesn’t deserve.
Stiles and Derek cross paths one fateful morning and form a powerful bond that no one could’ve expected. Lives change and promises are made even as the shadow of loss and the expectation of future violence hangs over everything. Will they be able to heal their wounds and overcome their challenges together? Or will it only end in more heartbreak for them both?

By the time he's fought off the Nogitsune and somehow lived to tell the tale, the rest of Stiles' sanity might just rest on Derek, the Camaro, and a few hundred miles of Pacific Coast Highway. It's going to be one hell of a road trip.

Summary
Synthetics are part of everyday life, with Hale Robotics leading the industry in synthetics for everyday living, companions, and police force standard MX combat models.
Stiles is a DRN; his programming is built around Synthetic Souls.
The aim of synthetic souls was to mimic the soul of a human being, allowing a synthetic android to experience feelings & emotions and to form emotional attachments or empathetic bonds.
DRNs have been out of use for decades because they were too lifelike for their human counterparts.
Derek Hale, heir to Hale Robotics, finds Stiles in his junkyard, where he's been a mechanic for the last 24 years. The last thing he expected was the android to be functional, much less it being a Hale DRN, which is the last project his mother had been working on before the fire. And Stiles was unlike any other DRN that Derek had ever seen before… he was so human and lifelike that Derek hated him for it.
