It's a cold night and, like all servants when they travel with their lords, Merlin sleeps on the floor next to Arthur's bed.
Arthur feels guilty, Merlin is a cheeky fucker and they're both hopelessly in love with each other. What else is new?...
Or, the author saw a post on tumblr that said that servants slept next to their lord's bed when visiting other castles and she couldn't resist writing about it.
