    I feel like you're still misreading the fact that I start from a position of affection ;)

    They definitely have their similarities, but they're still different people! Not better or worse, just...different.

    Viago having issues with Teia's love life was a recurring theme in 8LT though, because, again, petty jealousy and pride and him being stupid about his own feelings. He didn't say any of that specifically to hurt her though, just because he couldn't help himself.
    Lucanis, on the other hand, is being a good-natured little shit on purpose ;) Not because he means best, but because that's how he's grown up, apparently (see his banter with Illario in TWJ, and his nagging Davrin about the Wardens keeping bad secrets even after they've made up).
    It comes from a different place. Different, not necessarily better!

    And I may have forgotten about some of the additional in-world commentary about Crow!Rook; it's not my favourite worldstate.

    Lucanis saying Viago started the nickname is clearly a dig at that one line in 8LT, and his recitation about who's going to make sure him and Illario stop ruinining the party when they inevitable start punching each other is more about who would be familiar - and audacious -enough to kick their butts; Teia is in that one too, after all ;)

    I would so love to have a look what they were all like when they were a good decade or so younger; I suspect that Teia is about the same age as Lucanis, and Viago is a few years older?
    I'm pretty sure they were *not* in their 30s yet when Lucanis had a crush on him (or at least Lucanis wasn't).

      Okay, but... Viago does have a background either, although we do not know how he grew up. One might assume he had rather tense childhood as well. "Stupid about their feelings" is just for both of them. And nagging with Davrin, especially in such an agressive manner (so not like him at all) could be petty jealosy towards Rook.

      Never said one of them is better. And they are not so different as well. They are the Crows. And I love them both. And the Crows. 😊 I'm ready to bet Caterina had something to do with Viago's training.

      I personally headcanon them like this: Illario is a couple of months younger than Lucanis, Teia is somewhere there too, maybe a year younger. Viago is about forty. I think Lucanis was a teen when he had that crush. More like adoring a parental/older brother fugire than something romantic. But Viago is very particular. 😁 Too bad DA doesn't give any hints on the timing of 8LT and TWJ. Wiki only says that in 9:44 Caterina is ~70 and it quotes TWJ. I trace dates by this. Better than nothing.
