  1. Yep, it's funny how Batman, who's usually the pragmatic cynic, is playing the idealist here.

    1. Honestly, I think Batman was always an idealist. Or at least in the modern age of comics he is, I mean his villain could be committing war crimes (and I'm pretty sure some them have) and he would still be fighting against the death sentence. Instead pushing for rehabilitation and the narrative that they're mentally unstable and don't really know what they're doing.

      I know that the real reason his villains continue to live it's because of the writers and the money that they can make off of said characters. But the way the writers justify it in universe just makes Batman look really idealistic in my opinion. Which I don't entirely mind but it is a bit at odds with his pragmatic cynic look.

      1. True. Then again, Batman knows he's just a few steps from becoming as dangerous as his own villains, so he needs some self-restrains.
