    I saw that you posted this fic DURING REHEARSAL, and here I am, reading it in the midst of “Morning Person” (I’m not on stage again till “Freak Flag”. Don’t worry).

    “Carmine shut her eyes, barely resisting the urge to throttle her little brother.” So this Carmine WOULD hurt Kieran! Huh, somethings never change.

    “I’m gonna go to Peachy’s and get some snacks. You want anythin’?” Oh, Carmine, I don’t think that’s a very good idea…

    Kieran’s letter is so sweet! I’m glad he’s doing better!

    “That’s weird. Kieran wondered if Ms. Momoko was holding his sister hostage with one of her stories again.” Tutti, I see what you did there with the names (Momoko means “peach girl.” Veery subtle).

    “ She now stood directly in front of him. “Zeiyu, yamete!” Oh, you KNOW it’s gonna be serious when Kiki’s speaking in Kantonian.

    “Carmine lifted her arms, tucked her clenched fists by her chest, and stomped in place. Whatever had possessed his sister was now making her dance like a puppet on a string.” Welp, guess we doing the chicken dance.

    “Calling Emergency Contact!” Rotom said cheerily. Kieran sighed in relief. “Oh thank Arceus.” “Calling Drayton.” He stared at the phone in disbelief. “What?” OKAY, THAT MADE ME VERBALLY LAUGH! But it’s also kinda sweet at the same time that Drayton is her emergency contact.

    “Three beeps sounded. The video closed itself, and two words flashed onscreen: No Signal.” Doth my eyes deceive me, or is that a parallel to SBSB?

    “Ouch…chi….” Okay, why didn’t I see that coming?! That’s GENIUS!

    “Kieran flung the door open and ran down the hall into the living room. “Grandma, Grandpa, watch out!” Little did he know, in a few days, his grandparents would eventually get possessed!

    “A few minutes later, he ran out of his room and down the stairs. He clutched an overstuffed envelope covered in stamps to his chest for dear life. He locked the front door behind him, and bolted down the street towards the post office.
    What he held was no ordinary letter. It was his saving grace.” And it’s Kiki with the steel chair~?

    Anyways, this way such a treat of a fic to read! I honestly thought you’d post it on Halloween! Sorry this was so short. (Typing on a phone is a lot harder than I thought!) I’ll be on in a few minutes, so I’d like to sign off with one more thing, to quote Kieran in Tricks and Treats:

      Nahh, it’s more of an imagined threat than a real one. As a middle sibling, I’ve been on both sides of this convo - sometimes I am the one mentally yeeting a younger sib, and sometimes I am the one stressing my older sib out. You love them, but they drive you mad too.

      We have now entered the “audience watching a horror movie play out” zone. Carmine fell right into the first trope. Dun dun duuuuun!

      ME TOO. I love seeing Kiki on the road to recovery. 💜

      And correct! The sweet little old lady needed a proper name here, and this one felt right.

      The mochi has hit the fan when we switch languages. -ominous music intensifies-

      Yep! I wanted to leave it in as a callback to canon, but give it a more menacing flair.

      Hehehe, Dragon Man to the rescue! It would make sense to me that he’d be at the top of her list; not only is he her beau, but he would be the closest person to her at BBA (both literally and relationally) that owns a phone. Kiki will be added once he gets a phone, but by then he’ll be in Paldea. Oh well.

      Dingdingding! Easter egg found! 🐣 Slightly less ominous context here, but still impactful to the plot.

      I made myself giggle with that one. I couldn’t resist.

      Oh the plans I have for Hideko and Yukito…

      Indeed it is! Or rather, with the items we need to kick off this story properly. 💌💵✈️

        Don’t worry, it did! (And, funnily enough, after Halloween, I have to get dressed up AGAIN, this time for Dress Rehearsal.)

        As an older sibling myself, I feel the “mentally yeeting younger sibling,” especially when said younger sibling keeps wanting to yeet my “inanimate” characters out the window (in a funny way, of course).

        Same. And it feels a lot more impactful here, since Kieran’s development wasn’t that rushed.

        Oddly enough, before this series, I never really liked Mintteashipping all that much. Maybe it was just because I didn’t see much chemistry between them, mainly due to Canon Drayton. But here, I like this interpretation a lot.

        Oh? I hope you’re okay/congrats! And I’ll be enjoying this Halloween treat along with my many others! In honor of Z-A, I’m dressing up as Emma, and so far, only two people got the reference.

        (Off topic, but I thought I’d mention a project I’m currently working on. It’s a concept webcomic called “History Has It’s Eyes On You,” (Hamilton reference), a story based on both my experience playing Pokémon Shield (albeit, the MC’s team might be a bit different due to me not remembering most of my old team) and a rewritten version of the SwSh plot. I’m currently working on a concept art for the MC. I hope to share more progress about this project soon!!)

          Ahhh, the joys of having siblings. They test your patience, but you love them no matter what in the end.

          Indeed, it’s a long and slow process to heal for him, but he’s making great progress. I’m proud of him 💜

          Aaaa, happy to hear that! Minttea is a fun dynamic to write, and Drayton and Carmine are a good foil to Julie and Kiki. 🍵

          All is well now, thankfully. I’m feeling much better today, and just in time for my favorite holiday. 🎃 Aaaa what a cool costume! I hope you have a fantastic Halloween night.
