So... worrying trend. David does the Netrunning gig with Kiwi and Lucy. Doesn't take his cut. Does the gig with Maine. No cut. Does the big cartel takedown with Lucy. All his cut goes to granny and fam. Maine delays David taking down Katsuo for using him to take out Tanaka. David says "pro bono". Not much of a merc is he? And that little nest egg he has has to get some kind of replenishment besides a small 25k from Jin for XBDs and the 200k - now 100k - he got from Katsuo. He's flunked Witcher101 4 times in a row now. What's up with that? I can get doing no pay gigs every once in a while but this is back to back. I am not counting the smalltime gig that Maine had them do after the corpse cleanup or the coding David is doing for Maine either. Neither of those make up for the numbers he is hemorrhaging by giving up money for 4 major gigs in a row.
And the corp? He literally told his family on both occasions he hit the cartel that the money was theirs. Said he wouldn'ttouch it. That means his family with that one cousin that scoffs at the idea of him taking down borgs? Has more money than him.
So yeah... worrying trend. I honestly don't get why this is happening. Is it wrong to take money for your own work?
David is cavalier about giving away money because he cares more about his people than his personal prosperity. He's extremely far from being penniless by his standards, so it's not like it matters much to him, as long as he's able to make up for his mistakes, provide for his family and have the backs of the people that supported him otherwise, like Nakajima for example.
It's not wrong to take money for your own work. He just doesn't care about nickel and diming because he's confident he can always make more.
