    4 days ago i think. i think someones going on ao3 news posts and just typing in users who comment on them to rewuest password changes just to like harrass them or smth.

          People forget their emails, too. I don't think there's really a way to stop this kind of thing.

          A trick some services use is the secret question. However, people sometimes get their own secret questions wrong, and many of them aren't that hard to guess, either.

          You are probably right about someone doing this to people commenting on news articles. It hasn't happened to me, but if it happened to two people commenting on news articles in quick succession, that's a pattern. If that's the case, there's even less reason to worry because it's probably not someone legitimately trying to get into your account, just someone being mildly annoying.
