It gets explained further along, but I’ll go ahead and try to clear up the confusion without spoiling too much of the story
So Draco meets his escort clients as Malfoy, and meets his potion customers disguised as his alias MOD. He keeps his ‘under the table’ potions business and escort services separate. He doesn’t want any link that could invite complications(for more than one reason) and have the Ministry come knocking.
He’s brewing his lust potions illegally (no patent yet; he’s saving toward the fees so he can eventually go legit and quit the escort life and get the Malfoy mansion back).
But the counterfeits will make it harder since they’re stealing customers and slashing his savings.
So, much of the spare Galleons he makes goes to ingredients for trial and error anti-tampering serums he hasn’t gotten right yet to prove his bottles are real; which pushes the patent, and his escape, further out of reach.
