Comment on Lady of the Isles

  1. I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying the fic so far and all the romantic elements! The “slow burn” is as good as over.

Regardless of the precedence seen elsewhere in Westeros, and whether or not Asha would ever willingly agree to marry and have children, even to continue the Greyjoy line, I don’t think Aeron Greyjoy would support her claim for the Seastone Chair. In a Feast for Crows, Aeron says, “The god took me deep beneath the waves and drowned the worthless thing I was. When he cast me forth again he gave me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a voice to spread his word, that I might be his prophet and teach his truth to those who have forgotten. I was not made to sit upon the Seastone Chair…no more than Euron Crow’s Eye. For I have heard the god, who says, ‘No godless man may sit my Seastone Chair!’” I think he would interpret that last sentence very strictly – that only a god-fearing man, not a woman, can hold this position of power.

I’m sorry to hear that you don’t like Asha Greyjoy’s character. I think she is very understandably wary of her brother Theon. He’s been living with the Starks for more than a decade, and she doesn’t know what his agenda is or whether she can trust him. But by the end of chapter seven, they come to an understanding, and you see a bit of the sibling dynamic between them that even time and distance cannot erase.
