Comment on West of the Moon

  1. Gosh, this chapter was utterly brilliant. The best piece of Star Trek fiction I have read so far. From the way you structure the writing, cataloging the year and initial meetings month by month. To the little small character traits and mannerisms. Like Jim's smoking, Pavel's enthusiasm, Sulu's stress (you didn't even have to say he was stressed when talking to Uhura, you could see/feel it just like you could see his fear New Year's night), Uhura's lighthearted denial then utter sadness, Scotty's craziness with the dog. To Bones' surly attitude and determination to not give up. And Spock's confusion and inability to reconcile these illogical developments with the evidence he has thus far gathered on the character of Jim.

I firmly believe as of right now, however, that Bones is not dead. I think Jim fired the gun, but really sent Bones away. And he might come out after the family was taken down.

But gosh, my heart still bled for all of them. His friends who felt betrayed, and Jim who had to do something he did not want to in order to keep up appearances. Bravo
