  1. Kavanaugh, even though he could be a jerk sometimes, he made some good points. Sometimes in Atlantis they were winging it, but considering the environment they were in, it was necessary.

Kavanaugh how he was made out to be the enemy and when it comes down to it, asking questions and expecting answers should be the norm and shouldn't be threaten to keep quiet.

    1. Yeah, it's really easy to see both sides of the argument of how Atlantis is run. They really don't have much options, especially when they where out on their own at first. They did on occasion make some mistakes along the way, but no one is perfect. There where some times, however, where they would go a bit too far and it was purely caused by individual personality. Things that defiantly could have been avoided.

As for what happened with Kavanaugh, yeah people don't like him, but he was indeed treated quite a bit unfairly, that it's really no wonder he can act horribly. In general, if people treated someone awful, chances are that person would treat them back just as bad or even more so.

      1. I'm a huge fan of Rodney's but they let him run people over without really calling him on it, apparently deciding...he means well? Or is it just that they feel he's part of the team and will back them in turn? While Kavenaughs terrible people skills get him threats...

        1. Well, for a factual in show reason, it was stated in "The Siege (Part 2)" commentary that people realize Rodney's anger is well placed, so people don't get angry back at him.

For my own thoughts, maybe they let Rodney do whatever he wants because he's usually right. He's hard on people sure, but as soon as the guy sleeps, his team does something stupid like turning on explosive tumor machines without realizing it. So it's really no wonder he's stressed all the time and has to be very clear on how bad things are/will get if people don't follow procedures. Not too mention Rodney's probably going to do whatever Rodney wants to do regardless.

I think they mostly 'get back at him' by teasing and mocking him all the time, but yeah he does get away with a lot.

          1. I'm trying to be fair here! Lol. Im thinking how it appears from outside the little clique, though I'd bet Radek 'smooths things over for most scientists...the ones that he likes. ;)

I'm kind of enjoying how this paints John as the Cause of All Bad, at least to Caldwell's more objective view. I'm hoping that Rodney starts to take some of this in, but I'm not sure he can on Atlantis, because John's poisoned the well.

            1. Oh, that's true. Outside of the group. hmm.. Yeah, you're most likely right about Radek being the scientist mediator who has to quell the other scientists nerves and issues about it all. And what did happen with Kavanagh was a clear sign of the difference for favoritism. Maybe the other scientists are too timid to confront them because their both their bosses? Which is a tough situation to be in. Who do you complain too when it's the top? And that's what Kavanagh did. He complained about it and look where that got him. :|

Teyla is probably in the same position as Radek but for off world missions.

Other SGC members outside of Atlantis might just have a begrudging disdain for them like SG-1? Especially Rodney and his behavior, but also a bit fir Sheppard too in the beginning, but I think that's probably gone by now.

But yeah, to the other people on Atlantis Elizabeth's group must seem too pretty much get away with anything with no accountability of their behavior or actions. Must be very frustrating and annoying to work for people like that.

Then there's other like Lorne, who just sarcastically sass back. I'd guess the whole being soldiers thing prevents them from getting too aggressive with annoying civilians, but that doesn't mean they have to like it.

Yeah, as for Sheppard, I think he's okay usually, but he has his problems that are never addressed, and I think a lot of people kind of wash it aside and act like he's a perfect, either as a person or also great for McKay, which I never really understood.

So yeah, I also agree with you, and hope McKay learns from Caldwell's point if view.
