For the first part, in this AU soulmates aren’t strictly romantic, so while Gabriel may not feel the same way Natalie does, she’s still a very impactful person in his life. And for whether or not the the marks are affected by their transformation... you’ll just have to stay tuned ;-) Soulmates in this AU are just people that mark you strongly or marks in general.
