    "Blood purity is just an ideological smokescreen for old fashioned classism." This! Along with the stuff about Lily's family in earlier chapters, this statement is making such an important point about how all of this ties together in wizarding society. Cause like blood purity is only part of it, right? There is so much class discrimination in the wizarding word (see: how the Malfoys talk about the Weasleys) and it could be argued that the whole thing of being muggle-born vs pureblood is a metaphor for irl classism as well (see: conversations around who should have access to elite schools etc.) Anyway, I don't see this discussed in fic too much, so I love that you've brought it up here!

      Yes, the way Snape's half-blood status is just completely ignored -- the purity thing makes no sense, like all kinds of irl racism and discrimination.
