It really is such an iconic speech, I hope I was able to do it justice :') The story will explore the regret Vulpes feels over his past to a deeper extent, but the main reason Vulpes feels regret here is that, over the course of his relationship with Scarlette, he changed as a person (these changes will also be explored in this fic of course, lol). He's different from the Vulpes he was back then. The pride over Nipton's fate was how he felt at the time the massacre took place, not necessarily how he feels about it now. I hope that makes sense?? So, yes, he regrets how he introduced himself, and also how he treated the town.... to some extent, haha Ah! It was a short chapter I know, and probably the shortest one there'll be in the fic.
