Oohhh, Inuyasha's sly, LOL. Her staying with him WAS the payment, but hey if she thinks she's only incurring more debt... But in all seriousness if she's totally on the run and would just be living by herself out in the forest, in a cave somewhere, then staying with him instead is the logical choice. He's lonely, he could use the companionship, and she needs the help because he's totally right that she'd never survive the winter on her own. Even if nothing romantic ever developed (and we obviously know it will) it would still be a win/win situation for the two of them to partner up. He'll have a friend who genuinely does not mind his presence, and he can learn about plants, while she also has a companion and one who can protect her from threats and provide the meat while she takes care of the herbal side of things. I could read a whole novel of just Feudal Inu/Kag living their best life in the wild forest, LOL, but I know there will obviously be more drama forthcoming, like when we find out who is after Kagome. Those bandits were just a random stroke of bad luck and are probably long gone now, but there's somebody else Kagome is hiding out from. Some specific reason she can't go home.
