Well, as a tagging system I very much enjoy the Library of Congress's system - they manage to have all the straightforwardness of DDS but less of the baked in oppression - and because it's a living text they update it as necessary for yhe modern world. However, for organizing a catalog I think RDA (Resource Description and Access) is the best, as it fully utilizes the linking capabilities of modern technology, making cross referencing much easier.
