Comment on The Eternal Harem Side Stories

  1. Look at Hiro, making the exact same mistake as his Master. Smh Hiro, you're going to get punished for that one. At least he had a good thing going there for a while.

The ambiguous ending makes me wonder if Aslan's side takes prisoners. Surely they wouldn't pass on a chance to take one of the Master's generals as a hostage, right? I'm sure the Master would do the whole "Ha, if he was weak enough to be taken hostage why should I care?" thing but history has proven that he'll move heaven and earth to get a slave back, so it seems like a good way to lure him into a trap (as long as Aslan and co are careful it doesn't trigger the Master just destroying them, haha).

The flashback at the end was really fun. I really like the reversal of "How it started vs. How it's going" by putting younger Hiro at the end. Especially since it's not going well for future Hiro, ahaha.

My favourite part of the chapter was all the little descriptions of how boyrape just got normalized as part of the society here. The Master's ideology really does integrate seamlessly with the culture he's colonizing. Also liked the recognition of the value of art, even to an evil empire.

Not-Finn asserting his real identity over Hiro was a powerful moment. Though no doubt he'll eventually b tortured until he forgets it, we always support a big "fuck you" to colonizers. It really functions as a sign of how thoroughly Hiro was defeated here. His most obedient slaves are asserting their autonomy and independence. The horror!
