I get that Mami and Nagisa can be used for major icky things, but having them together as a mother-and-daughter arrangement is still cute. Cute enough that I'd be willing to sacrifice a romantic relationship with this Charlotte for it. Not like there aren't a ton of cute girls in this world she could snog. I'm sure Gertrud is available.
Oh sure, there's plenty that could have been done with the actual Nagisa, but I still prefer how it turned out. Mami and Charlotte are the first romantic couple I ever wrote into a story, and while Kyoko and Sayaka (or rather, Oktavia) are a couple of messed up teens awkwardly trying to sort out how they feel about each other, it was already really interesting to write for a (comparatively) older and already established couple as well, one that had been together for a while when they are introduced and are pretty stable. Plus, the fact that it's Mami and Charlotte, there's a lot of mutual guilt in their relationship that continuously comes up as well, which makes for an interesting dynamic.
Though the thing about Gertrud is that she does make a cameo appearance in Walpurgis Nights (though only on the tumblr version so far, as I haven't ported that chapter over yet), and she is very much a child.
Yeah. There are plenty of wholesome (and unwholesome) fics with Nagisa and Mami, but this is definitely interesting as well. Yeah, Mami deserves love, and if it comes from an alternate-reality version of Charlotte, who am I to judge?
Huh. I could have sworn Gertrud would be an older woman, a pompous rich asshole type. Maybe I'm being influenced too much by fanon. There's this one tumblr blog I follow "Puella Magi Chronicles", and that's the angle they go with.
