Comment on Resonance Days

  1. Good to hear from you again! I really enjoy how in-depth your comments are, plus how enthusiastic, lol.

Funny thing is, I really wasn't all that into Mami when I started this story. She was with us for so short a time, and her death was so sudden that she just didn't have a lot of time to form any sort of connection. But it was a no-brainer to include her in this story, and through writing her she's honestly become a favorite of mine.

And I am so, so glad that I started this story before the Rebellion Story dropped, because Charlotte is one of my favorite characters to write for, and her relationship with Mami is one of my favorite aspects of this story. If you're interested, there's actually a couple of prequels centered on them and their relationship on my profile.

Bitches Love Mermaids actually became a minor meme for a while. I had it quoted back to me a lot.

The Twins actually don't interact at all in the manga outside of flashbacks, though I think they get a "Together in Death" panel after they both die. Their...behavior is entirely my own invention. For better or for worse. Jeez.

Annabelle Lee is indeed a reference to the poem, albeit spelled differently.

The Matriarch is an OC, though we do get Oriko Magica representation later on.

The Reibey thing was born out of a period of time before it was confirmed that Kyubey was a hivemind and it was believed that there could be individual Incubators. His behavior was explained as him conducting the Incubator equivalent of a personality disorder (specifically, the ability to experience emotions) and got so insufferable that he was "reassigned" (i.e. banished) to the afterlife as a way to "keep an eye on things." Or rather, they didn't care about it and sent him there so they wouldn't have to put up with him anymore, for which he is very bitter.

Not planning on a Mami/Charlotte/Kyoko/Oktavia polycule, I'm afraid. Though I am open to some variation of a polyamorous relationship for some of the characters. Though there will be lots and lots of cuddling, both romantic and platonic. Because the girls need hugs.

Mami and Charlotte woke up in a different city, one that was fortunately closer to Freehaven than Genocide City was. If Kyoko and Oktavia had woken up in the same place that Mami and Charlotte had, half of their problems would've never happened.

I still can't believe I made the stupid ecchi genderbender harem magical girl anime an important part of the story. And I can believe even less that it actually works. Upside, I got to take the bland male protagonist who would regularly turn into a hot girl as a gag and make her an actual trans girl in my version. Trans rights, hell yeah!

And yes, trans people do exist in the afterlife, as well as new equivalents. Hell, it can be argued that witches are trans-related, what with their resistance to being deadnamed.

Wild witches will be explored more in depth later. And I have toyed around with adding a Lumity cameo. They'd fit right in.

Shizuku and Natsuru are still around, they just moved and willed the Nautilus Platform to Mami and Charlotte. They still get together for Christmas.

Oktavia is basically Sayaka without the hang-ups, though she does eventually develop a few of her own.

And while I like Nagisa just fine, I agree. I would've much preferred my Charlotte in Rebellion Story. Give Mami a tall, snarky, kinda autistic girlfriend, dang it!

I wish I could visit Tokyo. Have fun!
