New reader, just a little bit confused about the timeline here. I'm assuming that Loreza is the mother of Doran, Elia and Oberyn (since she's 20 years older than Doran) but I'm just a bit confused as to why Joanna Lannister is only 2 years old at her wedding. I thought that Joanna and Loreza were supposed to be of a similar age and that's why they were companions to Queen Rhaella.
Don't want to butt in, but I believe this issue was caused by GRRM. According to the wiki, Doran is either born in 247 or 248, and Joanna is born between 245 and 250. One could say that this is due to GRRM's less than perfect maths skills and he intended Loreza to be a similar age to Joanna and Rhaella when it's impossible with Joanna's age in relation to Doran. Or, alternatively, some people have pointed out that Margaery has both older, married women such as Taena Merryweather as well as young girls such as Lady Bulwer as her companions, so it's entirely possible for there to have been a large age gap between Loreza and Joanna.
Thanks for that. I really hadn't considered that companions could be of varying ages and thought that they were supposed to be unmarried young women but what you said makes complete sense. And your comment about GRRM's "less than perfect maths skills" has given me a good laugh.
