This story has tons of potential. The symbiotic AI implant isn't a new idea, but David has a pretty unique character in this one, I like the idea of a David trying to balance his Edgerunning with academy life, using his chrome money for school tuition instead. Also Lucy and David hating each others guts from the get go is fascinating. I don't know if David is too naive thinking he can climb to the top of an Empire without getting his hands dirty, or mature enough to realise space for poor people is a indentured servitude trap, no better than night city, like you read about in that one shard.
