        That’s what everyone thinks because no one has survived a trip there, but maybe what everyone thinks was a curse was really just poisonous volcanic gas clouds and boiling water of the smoaking sea.

        But if no one has been back to Valyria in the past 200 years how do they know that it’s still dangerous to go there? The gas clouds and the smoking sea might have both phased out by now.

        but Aerea Targaryen survived there for a years.

        Maybe at some point in the past 236 years the Doom subsided and Valyria flourshied with life once again, but no one has been back to check because they assume it’s cursed.

        Also volcanic ash is a great fertiliser and the Valyrians placed a lot of enchantments on the lands and the flora to make them stronger and more fertile.
        So Valyria might be a rich lush environment, we will see.

          Or that Valyria is under some sort of defensive spell to keep the outsiders and invaders away.
