I love Millicent - and her Gran. Both of them have a good head on their shoulders. I like how Millicent is actually using some common sense and making contingency plans e.g. doing her - is it her O Levels she signed up for? End of Year 5? Now I want to know what subjects she is taking for her muggle exams and where she found the time to learn the material for the exams. :) I don't expect that to be part of the story but my curiosity is piqued. :)
I think GCSE and O Levels are the same, I was four years behind where Harry and Co were in 1995, so most of this is going off what I remember from that period of time which really wasn't that long ago, screw you it being 2023.
It sort of is part of the story, not so much what GCSE's she's taking, it's the basics barring the Art/CDT/Home Ec option, or IT/IDT because that would need too much in the way of schooling time with the right materials. Fifth year especially, beyond patrolling, she's not exactly socially encumbered and spends all of her free time studying, with the weekends catching up on her Muggle stuff. She's doing distance learning with some of her holidays spent going into school to do bits she can't do outside. A bit like the Open University.
I like to HC that there will be some parents who really don't trust the Wizarding education, and make their children do a duel one so they can go to University and return to the "real" world after the mandatory Hogwarts comes to an end.
Also, the plan is three chapters out today. I really do want to get the New Years one out tomorrow.
