Comment on The Trail We Blaze

  1. Thanks! :D

It is after the events of the movie (maybe around six-ish months) and Chel simply left the pair of them. She's shown to be manipulative and she never explains her reasons for wanting to leave El Dorado (especially when nobody else has shown any interest in the outside world) so my running take is that once she got what she wanted -to leave El Dorado- she lost interest in Tulio and went off on her own.

    1. Well, THAT'S a cynical take.

I mean, even if she DID lose interest in Tulio, SURELY Chel would understand the concept of safety in numbers.

And y'know, I once heard about a concept that never made it into the movie proper; basically, the reason Chel wants out of El Dorado is because Tzekel-Khan tried to sacrifice her.

      1. Maybe a little bit, yes. But I've never liked Chel's character, so I didn't want to write her, honestly.

(That's such an interesting concept! It would make sense, too.)

        1. Well gee, if you dislike Chel's character so much, why don't you just kill her off?

It SOUNDS like I'm being flippant, but in all seriousness, this could give you some interesting avenues to explore. Like Tulio feeling extreme guilt because he failed to protect her, or something like that.

          1. Hm, that would've been a good idea.

IS still a good idea. Tulio's already got a lot of complicated background stuff planned, but that might still work. Hmmmmmm.
