I really resonated with your note on the first chapter of "part of me wants chardee to be happy and heal together, but part of me wants her to treat him real bad, you know?" Because SAME. I also struggle with how they haphazardly threw in that chardee retcon so some days I'm like no I'm actually gonna ignore that but I think you did a really great job of expanding on what the iasip universe looks like if we actually got a sneak peak behind the scenes after that comment. And totally not to absolve Dee of anything, but I do think touching upon her deep lack of self confidence and need to be wanted is so integral to nearly everything she does as a character so I really liked how you tied that in with her continued treatment of Charlie, even tho my boy Charlie needs some serious therapy and to get away from these people frrr. Again I loved how you interpreted their relationship here, it was so real.

And I’m really glad you appreciated the detail about Dee’s low self-esteem too – I think it’s so crucial to the gang that every one of them is both a perpetrator and a victim, both a deeply damaging person and a deeply damaged person themselves.
