Gepard's relationship with his father and how it informs how he connects with other people (Sampo) is a big part of what makes his characterization for me. The canon tells us all the time that Gepard is honorable and stubborn but nothing about how he became that way. This chapter was definitely an attempt on my part to fill in the gaps there.
Believe it or not, I am definitely more of a Sampo fan between the two of them haha. The idea for this fic originally came from his perspective and his actions, but I think it's so much more interesting to explore the impact of those actions from other people's perspectives. You're right on the money that Sampo is motivated by avoidance and fear, so naturally his POV escapes us lol
