Comment on How to create a work skin to have different fonts and colors in your works

  1. Fun fact, did you know that fonts affect the way a person perceives a written piece of work? It’s a very interesting science which has actual proof! This will be a ton of help for me (and others) to make their work not only visually appealing but also come across in just the tone they they want it to!
For example, comic sans often comes across as childish while fonts such as times new Roman make the writing seem a lot more smarter than it may actually be in reality. It’s important to make the font match what you want to portray so it’s not lost in translation! Or well, interpretation in this case.

    1. Aaaawwww, you're welcome! Thank you for your kind words, you're so nice! (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
I know, it's amazing how using a different font can give the work a completely different tone! For example, the simple sentence "Come out to play!" written in Comics sans will be perceived like a cute cheerful child sending an invitation to their best friend to go to the playground, but if you write it in a more gothic looking font, or even one of those that look like the letters are bleeding, it instantly gives the words a creepy horror vibe, like a message written by a serial killer.
It's a shame that Ao3 does not support certain font families, because there are some beautiful and intriguing custom fonts out there, but unless the readers install them on their device, they won't be able to see the effect 😭

      1. I absolutely understand you! It is quite possible to write on some other place using your preferred font, take a screenshot, and post the fic using the pictures- I’ve seen it done before and it’s absolutely incredible!

        1. Wow, I like this idea very much, thank you for the suggestion! (ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ)

I added the title in font "Gothicus Vulgaris" and with a linear gradient effect to the first chapter of my fanfic "Sacred Fire, Holy Water", using a red/orange/yellow gradient for the Sacred Fire part and a purple/blue/aqua green gradient for the Holy Water part and it looks awesome! Thank you again so much for the suggestion, now I can make gorgeous titles for my stories! ^-^
