I love it. I love this Hannibal. I adore this healthier Will. I like their healthier relationship, especially with him realizing that while he might have been a good possible friend to Jack, Jack could never be a friend to him. Jack is obsessed, those with obsessions have no room in their lives. Bella is lucky she got there before he became so high in the FBI.
In some weird ways, Will's relationship with Jack in the show is almost more toxic than his relationship with Hannibal. Hannibal is at least straight forward in his desire to destroy Will whereas Jack is blind to the fact that he wears him down and mentally destroys Will and when he sees it, he continues with very little guilt. Even when Will admits that the work hurts him, Jack ignores it. Will says, "Do you have anyone who does this better than me not broken?" And, instead of saying, "Slow down, take a break, let's get you out of the field," Jack says, "You're right keep going."
I think my Jack is slightly worse than the one in the show but only slightly.
