Thanks you for the comment Sammie. I am glad you enjoyed this chapter. I was worried people would find it boring or slow since it's mainly focused on Sera's thoughts and her internal conflict so, not a ton of action. I will say that though there are those in Heaven who would love to have Samael back, there are still some who have seen what happened in Eden as unforgivable and would either want him to be kept in Hell or want him gone completely. Then you have the younger angels who were made post-fall who never knew Samael and have only ever heard of Lucifer so that's an issue as well.
Ouch, it hurts reading some of the Angeks wouldn’t mind having Lucifer gone or stuck in Hell forever. I understand they must have some complicated feelings regarding Samael/Lucifer but the guy didn’t have a good understanding of what truly would happen when Roo would get released and from Lilith and Eve’s actions we see that humans always had free will, releasing Roo just gave them the knowledge to act evil so at the end of the ride it still is humanities choice if they decide to act good or act evil. I understand their pain and frustration at having Evil released and the impact that had on everything but believing their brother and friend is behind help and deserves to suffer after all this time and all he already had to go through? Though would they feel this at first or could their feelings possibly change after being reunited again with Samael and seeing how this all affected them and if he possibly was truly sorry or willingly to repent? I mean most of them haven’t seen Samael in 10.000 years and only heard stories of him. Also helps that Lilith is out of the picture.
I will say that in this fic I am sticking to the trope of the Archangels being God's children and considered members of Heaven's "Royal Family" and all of Samael's siblings would love to have him back. However, there are other Angels who would disagree with this and some of them are quite high in the hierarchy as well and quite influential. I figure some of these Angels were either rather neutral to Samael before the Fall or just didn't like him for their own reasons. The rumors and stories don't really help, but those only have more sway on the younger Angels who were created after the Fall or the ones who really didn't know Samael. A lot of the older Angels are aware that Humans get things wrong and rumors can spread and get really inflated, however, a few who may feel more positively about Samael may be a bit more cautious now since some of these stories could have a kernel of truth and who knows how Hell's influence has effected him. Of course, Lucifer, Satan and Beelzebub getting mixed up in stories doesn't help much either.
Also, even though Lucifer is sorry for all the terrible things that came of it, I think that deep down he does not regret giving humans free will. I think he may be at least peripherally aware of some of the good that has come from it, Hellborn do go to Earth and I am sure sinners do tell stories. I also don't think he could truly be repentant for the action because it led to Charlie's creation and he can never regret that.
One thing that really bugs me about the cannon story in Hazbin is that Lucifer and Lilith did give Eve the fruit with the best of intentions. They had no idea what would happen, if they had been told I bet they would have scrapped that idea and thought of something else. I'm not saying their shouldn't be some consequences for what happened, but eternal punishment seems pretty harsh. Let's just say, I wouldn't be surprised if it came out in a later season that Hell needed to be made and an angel needed to be tied to it to keep it under control and Lucifer was either set up to take the Fall or just the one unlucky enough to 'spring the trap' to be put in that position.
I do wonder how much cannon wise Heaven is able to see into Hell. I mean, we do see some scenes during the trial, but that was only in the Pride Ring. Can Heaven see into the other rings? Can they spy on Lucifer or is he powerful enough that he can automatically block them if he wants to?
Mmm I agree with you that the punishment was too harsh but I also think they Angels were someone has to rule it and seeing that Lucifer and Lilith created it it is the most fair that they do it instead of some Angel who is innocent in this, though I will hate Heaven if they prove that your theory is correct. Just be honest man.
Also all the reasons you give are reasonable so I do wonder how the conflict will go, both here and in canon
