                In their defense, most people probably wouldn't react well to their child suddenly having magic powers, especially when he mostly just makes things explode by accident.

                But yeah, I imagine them as some of the super strict Catholics that I've met here and there, where everything is good or evil and there's no inbetween.
                So possession would be their number one assumption and everything spirals down from there.

                  Panicking a bit I get. Even at first being like, "Oh god, call a priest!" I get. But, locking the kid in a room alone and just making him feel like he's a monster? Super not cool. Even if the kid is setting fires with his mind.

                  But then I have problems with the super christian types and their general, either you're exactly like this one thing or that's it, you're going to hell! mentality.

                    Well, maybe eventually, I'll write a fic where Chase gets to have nice parents (he kind of had nice parents in the last one, but then I killed them...) For the most part I don't care what other people believe as long as they're not hurting anyone (and locking your kid in his room definitely counts as hurting); it's the ones who can't just live and let live who really bother me. You can think I'm going to hell all I want, just keep it to yourself.

                    For this fic, I was trying to find a way to explain canon Chase being a super crazy/murderer (beyond just blaming everything on magic addiction) while still giving him the possibility of not turning out that way with help.
