    Man, you capture the horror of that first night in a new seed. When she was just sitting there, watching the sun set, I was just like "no no no no, please don't do the dumb and die on your first night!"

    Awesome chapter though! Her trying to talk to the animals kills me. Also, her having a Buzz moment of total panic when she thought she wouldn't be able to breathe lolololololol. I love all the little details that make this feel like a full story. Her name dropping the several places in our solar system that we'd have colonized by this point, the way she dreams about home and that this is the first place she's been to that even remotely feels like it, the fact that she's carrying guilt, enough to have sent her on this mission. It pulls it all together and makes the story and Alex as a character come to life.

    Also, she's lucky there's no skelly friends around rn, cause those bitches can aim.

      I definitely envisioned Buzz’s dramatic moment when his helmet was removed and ran with it for Alex because she would definitely freak out as well (I’m guessing she’s definitely seen firsthand what happens to people whose suits break during a mission and how horrifying it is.)

      The feeling of home Alex gets as she’s finally able to stop freaking out long enough to take in the beauty of Mojang is truly wonderful. As anyone who plays Minecraft can attest to, the scenery can be absolutely majestic and take your breath away.

      Her interacting with the animals definitely threw me as I was writing it because I couldn’t stop laughing. She’s got to be thorough in her job because you never know what intelligent life will look like, but it is all very silly and I love it 😹

      And then nightfall hit. As players, we all know the urgency on that first day to make a shelter as quickly as we can to avoid the zombies and skeletons that will come that first night Alex doesn’t have that knowledge and we get to suffer with her as she discovers how truly horrifying this planet can be.
