>>> (I can't remember the dialogue with the ghost in the Ivory Labyrinth and haven't gotten that far in my Raqim run, but VERY interested what she has to say about that...) It starts as an Ember banter after getting the ghost's story, then Seelah weighs in if present. Ember says that the ghost was abandoned by Sarenrae in life, then when the ghost committed suicide to end the tortures Sarenrae "punished her" and then asked why Sarenrae is considered a good goddess. Seelah then corrects Ember by pointing out that the ghost's guilt and torment is her own, not a deity's punishment ("A paladin's oath isn't a paper contract - it's written in their soul. To break it is to betray yourself.") Then Seelah wonders why she keeps trying to correct Ember about these things and admits she should probably give up on that, and it's back to dialogue choices.
THANK YOU!! I'm sure I would have missed this because I rarely take Ember along on missions. The way she and Seelah interact over her atheism is definitely influencing how things will unfold for Raqim, and this convo, though short, packs so much. This line: "A paladin's oath isn't a paper contract - it's written in their soul. To break it is to betray yourself." Very much more about the paladin's relationship with their own conscience/soul and less about the paladin's relationship with their god... interesting...
And so is Seelah finally just giving up on Ember...
