Heheee well the academic lecture in particular was inspired by (and features characters from) Immaru Builds a Utopia, which has a whole lot more philosophy wrangling between Lucent Hive scholars, so I thoroughly recommend that fic as supplementary reading material because it's so good and funny and inspiring.
