   ok so, no luck finding something similar but native to asia 😅 unless you know of a similar tree we're just gonna assume this makes sense in this universe (after all, the setting is not in the real world, but a fictional country just based off of China :))

   fun fact, there are a few things the author of the story purposefully misrepresented (such as having chocolate in the story) to suggest things are not exactly historically accurate (got from a reddit comment so correct me if I'm wrong lol)

      yeah there’s also the existence of guns despite Li being mostly based on the Tang Dynasty, not Ming. I personally just believe that in their world, the Americas have already been “discovered.” It’s more or less historical fantasy, anyways, so it’d be more convenient.
