“ don't get attached to thomas' saviour complex” WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT RAHHHHHHHHHHH. You’re so right tho, that’s what makes it sad.
Thomas may have been the protagonist in the MR series but his focus was never really about getting rid of corruption for just morality’s sake, it was more focused on how it impacted the people immediately around him that motivated him to change. This feels like a similar narrative, where he cares a lot right now because he’s seeing all these people that he cares about being a victim of the Capitol. But I wonder how the games will impact this.
My theory is that he’s going to hit a point of emotional burnout in the games that he can’t think about things like how to inspire revolts in the districts or showing people that the Capitol is in the wrong, he’s just not going to want to lose another person. And I think that final person he’s not willing to lose will be Newt (I may be hallucinating thinking you said in a previous authors note that the both of them make it out). I do have to wonder how that relationship will play out in the games, hehehehe I’m so excited.
Once again the chapter ate and left no crumbs, I saved reading this like a little treat for myself, I get so hyped when I see you updated!!! I was so ready for the interviews and it did not disappoint. I will be (not really) patiently waiting for the next chapter!!!
i've always wondered what it would take to kill thomas' saviour/hero/whatever complex, or at least alter it. this whole fic is essentially me playing around with that.
i did absolutely say and mean that newt and thomas will survive this, but you know, long way to go and all that. honestly i don't even know what's gonna happen but i'm also pretty excited to find out.
