ok i did end up reading this on my lunchbreak and VIXEN!!!!! YOU MAKE VIAGO SOOOOO COOL. WHY IS HE SO COOL. I love how every movement he makes is so deliberate. Even the smallest twitch. And Rook is so hyperaware of it that she catches every one, analyses them, and then tries to counter his thoughts.
Love this more ambitous take on Viago too. He's at a crossroads now and hes picked his path, even at the detriment of losing Teia. But he hasn't lost Rook. And maybe that's the reason he can still keep going. I really like the side loveless marriage between Rook and Lucanis too. Its realistic for a Lucanis who doesnt know Rook very well, and just adds that extra tension, that little forbidden element.

I started writing this back in February when I had a different impression of Viago 😂 definitely wanted to go for that cool, casually suave vibe for him here, and wanted to show that Rook has known him for so long that she knows each little movement means something.
I tried going the lovelorn Lucanis route at first but I ended up breaking my own heart writing it! I'm thinking a hardened Lucanis for this, or one who never really conquered his issues with Spite.
And yes! Viago knows Rook has always been there for him, would still be if he only thought to ask; perhaps that's another reason he seeks her out now.
