Every swirl of wine, measured sip, focused stare, etc… tells a story in itself — the underlying message behind their carefully crafted words. And I really love how Viago and Rook have a mutual understanding here. She understands his ambition, the grey things he’s had to do to get where he is, because in a way, she’s in the same position. Marrying out of obligation rather than love. And I think that mutual understanding means a lot to the both of them — but I love how Viago *pushes*. Asks Rook if she’s truly happy living like this and if she’s ever wanted more. I am so excited for the next chapter because you’ve build up the tension BEAUTIFULLY. I’m so ready to see it boil over like a kettle hehe! Wonderful job, as always. I am in awe of how beautiful/polished your writing is. 💕
OMG Jasper thank you!! 🥰 I really wanted to dive into how deeply Rook and Viago know each other, that every little action DOES mean something. Nothing between them is ever careless and it never has been.
The Crows themselves are so morally grey, at best, and I love playing with a pragmatic Viago and restless Rook who know this. Even if Viago has a better future envisioned for Antiva, he knows it'll take compromises to get there. And Viago is also pushing Rook because he knows what she's capable of, and wants her to admit it to herself.
