    Why is she's writing and not talking, did I miss something?

      It's mentioned, and hinted, but to explain it directly, she developed Selective Mutism after a so-far undescribed disaster at her 11th birthday, and it was made worse when her parents looked for a physical condition causing her to not talk and were told by the doctor that it's a psychological disorder and so responded mostly by blaming each-other for having a "crazy" kid and giving her increasing punishments until she "got over herself."
      She does talk, but only to specific people like Fox and Missy, and only when alone with them, which is why that one scene has her stuttering and mentioning her throat hurt after only 2 sentences of dialogue.
