I must have revisted this a nasty amount of times, what an impactful fic. It's so patient and thoughtful for its dark subject matter and it works perfectly. Every paragraph is a new blow. The way Hickey's mind just assumes (some obviously incorrect) things is really well written. What I wouldn't give for a) a voyeur's take on the same scene and b) the aftermath. "It’s the image of how Irving will react tomorrow that finishes him, the thought of the bastard reaching between his legs and finding the source of the pain." God Hickey, my thoughts as well! Really great piece that sticks with you! Thanks for writing & sharing.
