Comment on Rising of a Shadow - The Eminence in Shadow

  1. Thanks for the comment!

I really appreciate your detailed and supportive feedback on this story.

My co-writer and I have a lot of ideas for the future, especially when it comes to exploring more about how Shadow Garden and the Cult operate. We want to show different members beyond Mitsugoshi, as well as their fieldwork, and also flesh out what happens to those who aren’t suited for combat or who can’t work for Mitsugoshi.

I’m also making a conscious effort to distance the story from always relying on the main characters like Alpha, Cid, Delta, Rose, Alexia, and so on. In a more realistic setting, many members would never meet them personally—either because they’re too low-ranked to receive private missions from Alpha, not allowed to take part in special Midgar missions due to Rank issues again, or simply because Cid doesn’t appear. After all, there are usually bigger targets than a First Child for him to “aura farm.”

    1. Yes, not relying on main characters from the original seems like the correct choice here, it makes the story much more grounded and the world feels larger. I do kind of wish to see how people in Shadow Garden actually view those characters though, so some kind of rumors (both true and falsified) or discussions would be very welcome from me. (That said this kind of fan service may not be the best for the story, and I have no experience in crafting such a fanfic, so feel free to ignore that thought)

      1. Main problem for writing original characters is to get their personalities right which for some of them is rather difficult.

They will show up eventually and Shadow was talked about a few times, also pretty early in the story on how low ranking members view him.

Zeta and Alpha both were also shown and interacted with Theta/Serena indirectly at the start.

I’ll definitely get some interesting stuff that doesn’t interrupt canon stories or anything too much.
