Ignoring the fact I basically grew up with animals, like I currently have 12 budgies, a cockatiel n 2 dogs. I'm compensating my solitude with animals, they're like ten times better than peoples. I have an actual cockatoo tho--cockatiels are cockatoos, they're just mini ones--Imma put my ramble about cockatoo behaviour below this btw, but trust me, I am also the cockatoo friend.)
(Cockatoo rambles!! Birds, especially parrots, are my special interest. But cockatoos are often referred to as velcro birds, or described as cuddly and affectionate. They aren't tho...? Like cockatoos are incredibly intelligent, but parrots aren't domesticated. They aren't dogs, they seem cuddly because we want them to. They're often raised over dependent or neglected, as they tend to be sold too young, and it causes them to seem clingy. They aren't cuddly, cuddling with birds is arousing for them for gods sake. The main proof of this is cockatiels. They're mini, quieter, less intelligent (but still VERY high maintenance and very smart--best example? My bird squawks at me when he's in his cage, cause he wants to come out. The only time he doesn't is when I'm doing things that he's not allowed out of his cage for. Like using my laptop. He eats the keys, okay? My delete key will never be the same) cockatoos. But mine, at least, isn't cuddly. He likes attention, and he likes to sit on my shoulder and get head scratches, but he doesn't like constant physical affection. He likes trying to copy my actions by tapping my phone screen with his beak or moving my kandi beads around. He's playful and smart, not cuddly. Cockatiels are often raised well, with the correct amount of time spent giving them comfort and attention, so they don't end up as dependent. Birds do have personalities tho, I've heard of some people saying theirs are laid back and chill, like won't hold grudges chill, while mine is an evil little goblin. Point is, cockatoos like attention, but they aren't meant to be cuddly cause they AREN'T DOMESTICCCC!!!)

(Honestly same. My budgies tend to die quickly and I kept ending up with deaths from my Guinea pigs back when I had them, it’s really sad. It’s not anything to do with my care btw, once it was a friends fault (don’t blame him, I forgot to warn him that the Guinea pigs wiggled around when you put them back in their cage and it fell) and the other time it was heatstroke. Without warning btw—I live somewhere really REALLY hot at certain times of year so it was sudden. And then budgies aren’t robust at all, they’re found in massive flocks and lay eggs is huge amounts compared to other parrots, so it’s inevitable.)
