You're a tired, overworked surgery resident like all the others in Midgar, trying your best not to kill anybody inside (or outside) of the OR until the day you finally graduate and get paid like a real doctor.
You didn't ask to get sucked in to the unholy, lightless abyss that is Shinra Electric Power Company, but, well, maybe you shouldn't have committed the grave error of being both a doctor and the best friend of a Shinra Turk. Or being too poor to say no to a Shinra-caliber paycheck. Or having overly flexible morals and extremely questionable interpretations of medical ethics.
