Summary
Kissing Kaeya would probably clear some things up, Albedo understands with a sudden start, but he can’t allow this.
“No,” he says and puts his hand to Kaeya’s shoulder, stopping him in his movement.
The shift in his expression was subtle, but Albedo has seen that look before. It’s the one Kaeya gets when he figures out what someone wants, what he has to give to make someone happy—oftentimes regardless of his own feelings—and Albedo is not going to allow this.

Summary
It takes a while for them to be brought up, for everything to be sorted out but eventually Albedo and Kaeya find themselves patched up in Jean’s office, Klee peacefully sleeping in her own bed for now.
“So. Any new and exciting developments on the spell that hit us?” Kaeya asks and Albedo wishes he hadn’t when Jean and Lisa share a look.
“Oh. That’s a yes then,” Kaeya mutters. “Wasn’t expecting that.”

Summary
“Today in the lab, Klee’s question threw you off. Why?”
“What?” Kaeya pretends as if he doesn’t know what Albedo is talking about, but he notices the tapping of Kaeya’s finger on the table, sees the way he avoids his gaze and Albedo just knows that it’s something serious.
“When Klee asked you what you dreamed of being when you were her age. What’s wrong with that question?”
“Nothing is wrong with that question,” Kaeya tries but Albedo gives him a look.
“You lied, Kaeya. You never lie.”

Summary
“I envy bees,” Albedo says after almost ten minutes of silence and it’s so out of left field that Kaeya doesn’t even know what to say to that. “And ants,” Albedo adds after a moment.
“Why?” Kaeya finally asks after having found his voice. He doesn’t want to assume what this is about—doesn’t think he ever really could—so he has to rely on Albedo to explain this.
“The hive mind,” he answers as if that is enough to explain anything and Kaeya slightly presses their shoulders together.
“You’ll have to give me a bit more than that.”

Summary
Albedo comes to with a groan and immediately wishes he wouldn’t because there’s white hot agony all over, burning him alive and making it hard to form a coherent thought.
He tries to blink his vision clear but there’s a veil over it and it takes him a moment too long to realize that it is probably blood. Albedo still tries a few more times until he at least can make out some things around him.
There’s white all around and Albedo puzzles over this until he remembers that this is probably Dragonspine. It has to be, right?
He wrecks his brain, trying to remember what happened but it’s all in bits and pieces in his mind.
There was his laboratory at some point, and a loud explosion and noise, though Albedo isn't sure about the order of things. Did an experiment of his gone wrong?

Summary
Albedo bites back a scream of frustration when the third vial of the day shatters in his shaking hands.
He can feel Sucrose’s eyes on him, knows that they are full of worry and pity and even that makes him want to smash something. Albedo has to put his hands on the table in an attempt to stop himself from simply sweeping everything off it and his knees almost buckle when he takes a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm himself and pain shoots down his back.
It’s not real, everyone has tried to convince him about that, but the pain makes his vision swim and it doesn’t help with the anger inside of him.

Albedo has barely settled into his newly assigned laboratory when the door is being flung open with no regards for propriety. Albedo is upset over the entrance but by no means surprised.
He was only waiting for the other Captain to corner him ever since he saw the star-shaped pupil.
“So,” the Captain drawls out as he closes the door behind him and Albedo guesses the motion is supposed to be intimidating.

Kaeya hadn’t given that any more thought than that—at least until he gave the tiny figurine to Albedo and he had looked so painfully surprised. That had gotten Kaeya to freeze with uncertainty—which never happened!—and then! And then he had smiled that real smile at him and something in Kaeya’s brain just short-circuited.
And Kaeya is not oblivious enough to fail to realize what that means.
“Fuck. I like him,” he mutters, and then promptly tries to suffocate himself with his pillow.

“Am I allowed to apologize yet?” Albedo says after a moment of silence after Diluc’s departure and Kaeya raises an eyebrow at him.
“I don’t know. Are you?” There is anger in Kaeya’s voice still, and Albedo shrinks in on himself. “Why the hell would you say something like that?” he then demands to know and Albedo can’t do anything but shrug.
“I know it was uncalled for.”
“Then I ask again, Albedo, why the fuck would you say something like that, knowing how I feel?”

Summary
“This is going to be humiliating, right?” he mutters even as he puts the DVD in.
It starts with a black screen before a date is displayed on the screen and Suguru remembers that this was one of the very first days he and Satoru both were on set. He doesn’t think they had any scenes together that day, but he’s sure this mystery will be cleared up soon. And he’s proven right when he and Satoru show up on screen, though it’s not a scene from the movie. They are standing next to the snack table just goofing off and before Suguru can even process that the scene moves on.
“Are these bloopers?” he asks Shoko who sat down next to him by now.
“You could say that,” she cryptically gives back and Suguru fights the urge to turn the screen off.

Suguru has lied to him, Satoru is sure of that. He said that it’s just the heat, that he’s simply tired, that he’ll be fine and Satoru believed him but now he thinks that it’s all a lie.
It might be a figment of his imagination, but he could swear that Suguru loses more weight with every day that passes and the circles under his eyes get bigger and bigger and darker on top of that. And that isn’t even touching on the fact that Suguru has been avoiding him for the better part of the month now.

“Next time it’s your treat,” Suguru grumbles because he doesn’t quite understand how it came to this but Satoru only grins that devastatingly beautiful smile he has and Suguru knows that they’ll have this exact same fight next time as well.
He pointedly doesn’t think about the fact that there definitely will be a next time because it would be akin to admitting just how weak he is to every one of Satoru’s whims.
There could be worse people to be weak to, though, Suguru thinks as Satoru hangs off his shoulder even while they walk.

“You’re insane,” is all Suguru can say to the verbal onslaught he just had to withstand and Satoru grins at him.
“It worked though, so worth it,” Satoru declares and it’s only then that Suguru remembers Mahito.
He whips around but he only sees Yuji who gives him a thumbs up.
“He left like ten minutes ago!”
Suguru lets out a breath of relief and even manages a smile for Satoru.
“Thanks, I guess,” he awkwardly says because he has to admit that it did kind of work and that it was incredibly kind of Satoru to distract him like that.
