Inspired by Slave Traders - A Jack and Sam Story by TuruaSam.

This series was inspired by TuruaSam. I had several ideas about Alterans that I wanted to blend into a story. The Alterans were a species that was OLD when they met the YOUNG Asgard. This series will explore that history (good and bad) and demonstrate that even the wise can be stupid.

I read TuruaSam’s excellent story Slave Traders – A Jack and Sam story and got inspired. TuruaSam’s initial plot points include an attack on a local village after Jack is made BG (late in Season 8); that Sam is exhausted after working all night on programming due to power issues. That Teal’c and Daniel are not present at the time of the attack because they went to the local mine.

Then I massively diverged from her plot points. Her story inspired me, but my story is vastly different. I highly recommend TuruaSam’s story. It is massively long, but has lots of twists and turns to keep it interesting.

This AU is not canon compliant! I made minor alterations to history for Jack and Sam from canon. The story starts with mostly canon points. Ascended Anubis. Most changes can be classified as 'behind the scenes'.

Jack: Jack’s changes may be canon. We just don’t know.
1) Hathor’s snake died in Jack. He has naquadah. Guinea Pig paranoia.
2) Birthday confusion is a plot point.
3) His family… another thing he never talked about.

Sam: Sam’s changes are decidedly NOT canon.
1) Pete did not propose. He is just her boyfriend.
2) Sam had massive PTSD after Fifth’s torture.
3) Sam's blood type is B neg.

Any other changes in canon or canon history will cause spoilers. They are all within known canon or fanon parameters.
